Bottle thanks to Chi, brought back from WI. Pour is a light hazy burnt orange, with a really dense slightly off white head that lasts and lasts, leaving beautiful lacing in its wake. Aroma is somewhat muted by this dense cap of foam, but when itís released, itís really, really nice. Huge grapefruit pitch, lots of resiny pine, floral and herbal notes. Grassy, without being vegetal. Just a massive amount of citrus blasts out of the glass with each swirl. Taste is more piney, with just a touch of lightly caramelized malt backing, but really not much else but hops. Long bitter finish, nice carbonation level. Really one of the better IPAís I have had in a long time! Thanks again Chi!

Narnad (1417) - Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA - MAR 1, 2013
Pours a hazy yellow color with a modest, white foamy head. Aroma has a solid mix of resin and citrus hops nose with a modest amount of strong grassy hops at the end. Flavor starts off a bit off and I am not sure what flavors are creating it but the best I can describe it is kinda weedy(?). After this subsides, some mild citrus grapefruit, pineapple and light pine sneak in before some slightly toasted malt presence kicks in at the very end. Light/modest body, low carbonation, oily presence on top of the beer when light hits it (actually get the oil slick look to it). Overall a good brew but not as good as their other hopped brews. Seems to be a bit rough at the start with some flavors not melding as well as they should. Still a good, enjoyable brew.

[Bottle--old rating] Pours hazy orange with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet caramel, candied grapefruit, some grass, rubber, and sulfur notes. Taste is sweet, moderate to mild bitterness, fair amount of alcohol, some peach, rounded grapefruit, and a good deal of malt at the end. Full mouthfeel, smooth, good length finish. Overall, too syrupy and not my thing.

Guest tap at Lunar. A hop lozenge to be sure but something very sharp about the hops, some strange vegetable tastes too. I donít mean to sound like it was bad just something was a little off about it. Serving: Tap

I love a good hop whoopin as much as the next guy, but am just not sold on Oísoís versions of it. Sure, itís excessive and intense and all those other words on the label. . . but does it make me want to drink it? Does it have a resiny taste so unique I have to have one every once in a while. No to all of those. Just a ton of bitterness. Probably the most interesting flavor is a pretty good blast of a fresh cut grass that hit me somewhere in the first couple sips, but all in all the brute force and lack of subtlety or complexity here just makes less appealing to me than many other "extremely hoppy beers." Best example is the aroma. Just nothing there for me, which seems like a felony considering the amount of hops being used.

jstraw (1900) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 8, 2013
Hazy pale yellow with foamy white head / Bright nose of lemon, other citrus, cut pine, and weed / Medium body, a hint thin, chewy, good biting hops with some sweetness and bitter finish / Flavors of cut pine, grapefruit, pineapple, orange peel, resin, and candied sugar / Just a mild body flaw, but otherwise excellent.

Flowery aroma. Taste starts with a bready/malty sweetness, quickly followed by a burst of citrus and a then a bunch of pine that lingers into the aftertaste.

tmoreau (2127) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - DEC 25, 2012
On tap at Lunar Brewing Co., and shaker served with a lightly hazed, golden hue, a modest amount of white head foam, and etched-like rings of lacing that clung to the glass. The aroma presented pleasant, expressive grapefruit, a touch of sweetness, and just a hint of resiny cattiness. The flavor was the aroma notes plus smooth malt, medium hop bitterness that lingered nicely, and was somewhat earthy and rind-like. The body was medium, and the finish matched the bitterness with a successful dryness. A well balanced, crisp, no frills IPA.

Bottle:   Pale amber, hazy, moderate white head, fairly nice lacing.   Sweet citrusy and pithy nose.   A little floral.   Sweet pithy start, a touch earthy but its minor, with a bunch of sweet citrusy white bits towards the backside.   Not bitter at all.   Well, bitter I guess by not biting.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Finishes just as it started, citrusy, some sweetness, a bit pithy, with faint floral notes.   Really enjoyable!

backdaft (181) - Menasha Red Light District, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 23, 2012
Bottle. Pour is a nice hazy orange/gold color with a good white head that leaves substantial lacing around the glass. Aroma is of grassy hops and citrus notes. Taste is bitter resinous hops with barely anything else. Maybe some pale malt, maybe some grapefruit. Nonetheless, this beer packs a full frontal smackiní!
