I really enjoyed this roasty, flavorful porter. Has a great viscosity- thick and syrupy, but not to the point that it would be mistaken for a stout. Love the high gravity in this beer, very drinkable and with a clean finish. Goes well with a cookie.

UPDATED: FEB 7, 2013 I found nothing complex, rich or creamy in this porter. Poured from bottle, lovely deep black/brown with a tight head, little carbonation in the glass. Very skunky, funky. I initially wanted to give it the benefit of a lactic sourness but essentially I think this beer sat on the shelf to long or sat in storage. Not unpleasant but an awful porter experience. Update - tried 2nd bottle (cuz I hate throwing beer out), at cellar temperature this is a much nicer product. Think I might bring one up for room temp. to see if it improves further.

A deep dark porter with a thin dark brown head. In aroma, a smooth caramel chocolate with vinous notes, very mice coffee grinds, well done. In mouth, a nice herbal chocolate with mocha coffee, chewy, nice. Bottle from Riley’s, Madison, 1.99$.

Poured a very dark red/brown with virtually no head and minimal lacing. Aroma was of roasted malts and coffee. Taste was similar with a roasted malt/coffee front end and a sour, moderate bitter backend. Palate was good. Overall, I thought this was more of a stout than a porter.

12 oz bottle from beer fridge at the lake...pours black with a tan head...sweet chocolate in the nose and initial sip...yum! They call this a PORTER and I guess they know...but it’s a sweet stout to me...definitely a tasty one.

Rich deep brown coloured body with a thin, one centimetre tall tan head and some nice coffee coloured highlights at the bottom. Aroma of roasted malt, nuts, earth, coffee, chocolate and a ton of cherry and deep fruit smells - this one is very nice and rich. Medium to Full-bodied; Very nice rich chocolate and roasted malt flavours dominate, with a good earthy and caramel flavoured finish. Aftertaste is quite complex with coffee, chocolate, pit fruits, cherries and some peat coming through. Overall, a very nice porter - perhaps one of the best ones I’ve had recently, with good flavours throughout, a nice body and a good complexity. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Three Cellars in Franklin, Wisconsin on 05-September-2012 for US$1.89 sampled at home in Washington on 19-November-2012.

The beer pours a thick opaque black, with a slightly brown head and little visible carbonation. The best thing about this porter is the roasted malt taste that hits your tongue and continues throughout the sip, venturing into a coffee dominated, slightly alcoholic aftertaste. This is an enjoyable and easy porter to sip, and with just enough complexion to have you thinking throughout every sip.

Great looking beer. Black with a toasty coloured and creamy head. Beer smells of coffee, caramel, chocolate. Taste is sharp and full bodied with coffee and burnt toast. Taste ends a bit bitter, but full. Real delicious, but full flavoured and bold.
