12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours almost black with less than half a finger of nut brown head. Aroma of coffee and chocolate with a little dark fruit and some tart cherry skin. A little red wine in there also. Taste is light bitter. Coffee and dark chocolate with a little tart red wine. Full bodied with a somewhat thin texture. Lively carbonation and a pretty long finish. Overall, pretty good. Something i would gladly drink again.

Bottle. The pour is black with a thin head. The aroma is nice, malty and roasty, near perfect for this style. The taste is very nice as well. The malt mixes well and a perfect hint of roast. Nails it for a porter. Well done! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a very nice dark brown with tan head. Cocoa, roasted malt, and nuttiness on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a nice roasted malty character.

Pours a dark brown with beige head fading to a ring leaving oily swirls and good lacing. Aroma is chocolate and well roasted malts. Taste is sweet with some lactose up front, then some dried fruit tartness, and then settling into some dark chocolate bitterness. Aftertaste settles on a nice roast bitterness with a touch of the lactose to balance. Complex and enjoyable. Palate is medium bodied, smooth in the middle, and drying out only moderately for the finish. Let it warm and take time to enjoy it.

This is a curious porter. I am not sure if it is intentional but this has a bit of a funky tart character that sets it off from most of its style. It is not terribly strong like the bottle got infected but very much there. It is a deep brown color and almost headless. The biggest players here are roasted malt charcter and some caramel sweetness. This sweetness, along w/ some hoppy bitterness implies dark chocolate and that slightly tart charcacter implies dried fruit. I am not sure if Id pin this as a porter just tasting it. To me, it tastes more like a milk stout complete w/ lactose. It is really quite complex and very drinkable w/ its medium body and mild carbonation. It might not hit the spot for someone looking for a dry and hoppy American porter like Founders or something of that ilk but this is a nice change of pace.

Served on nitro-tap in downtown Janesville, WI. This pours a black color with creamy beige head. The flavor is full of roasted, toasted malts and grains. The texture is smooth, creamy full of flavor. It leaves a lingering roasted malt aftertaste. Pretty decent stuff and would love to have again.

[Tap] Tried on nitro at the taproom back in March. Pours a very deep brown color with a compact nitro head. Chalky malt and coffee grounds in the nose. Dark breads, bitter cocoa, sticky molasses and light hop kick in the taste. Creamy mouthfeel. Comes together well.
