Dark brown pour. Small tannish head. Aroma isn’t so good. Meaty, butter, some chocolate is there. Flavor is a LOT better than the aroma. Roasty, a bit tart, chocolate, cherries, coffee and finishes a little bitter.

UPDATED: NOV 25, 2010 Sample at Bodega Brew Pub in La Crosse. This brew is brown with garnet highlights and a medium tan head that dissipates steadily. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt and dark fruit. Medium body with flavors of coffee, toasted malt and black cherry. The finish is roasty with a short chocolatey malt aftertaste. Decent Porter overall.

Bottle: Pours an opaque black with dark mahogany edges and a spotty-lacing froth of beige head. Has a sweet toasty dark caramel, dark chocolate and roasted coffee nose. Starts with a good rich caramel and chocolate sweetness well-balanced with bittering hops and roasted malt before a smooth sweet milk chocolate finish. An enjoyable and complex brew that borders on imperial/strong porter.
