3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 JoePeesie (568) - Long Lake, Illinois, USA - DEC 4, 2011
An above average beer. Purchased because I thought the bottle looked cool with the ball gag & all. Pours a dirty brown with a touch of off white head that laces nicely. Nose and taste are of hay, medium to dark malts and grain. A nice beer but not a game changer.

This beer is really pretty decent, but still nothing much to it. I like some more complexity.

12oz bottle: Pours a clear dark copper mahogany with a spotty-lacing off-white head. Has a sweet bready caramel nose with a touch of butterscotch. Starts with pretty good fullness and well-dissolved carbonation with some light fruity notes and sweet doughy caramel before a drier, more bitter and slightly warming finish. A pretty good attempt at the style, but could be a little more balanced.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 arminjewell (2441) - Parker, Colorado, USA - APR 26, 2011
Pours hazy reddish brown with eggshell white head. Aroma has notes of raisins, some vanilla, touch of grassy earth, other dark fruit such as figs with a touch of booze. Taste is some notes of toffee, dark fruit with raisin and figs, some slight vanilla, and a slightly bitter, slightly boozy finish. Just ok.

Draft at Old Fashioned. Toffee brown color. Thin, steady beige head. Smooth malty aroma, mild chocolate tones. Sweet, some thin sugary malt residues. Not really that great, lack a little depth and complexity. Some warm alcohol and toffee notes. Mediocre.

On tap at the Malt Hose in Madison, WI., before the GTOM O’so pre-party. Poured a brown tone, with some garnet highlights, a modest amount of creamy, off white head foam, and ribbons and spots of lacing. The aroma was smooth malt, but more roasted than toasted, some caramel, and light chocolate. Ditto on the flavor, with some light creaminess to the mouthfeel, and lingering, warming alcohol. Very nice!

Rating this a day after my fellow beerpal brothers, suprised I didn’t rate this over a month ago. Anyway, just had since i returned and was impressed again. Dark reddish brown. light tan head i guess you could say. malty and nosey in the sense that the biscuits were getting in my way. burnt toast. toffee, and coffee. not as dominating as i was hoping, but pleasent all around.

Pours a nut brown ale color, a different texture. Held some decent foam thorughout the beer. Aroma is big of malt sweetness, candy sugar and some fruits. Taste is sweet and malty, big candy presence, a bit heavy in the residual sugar department. Palate is one dimensional- a bit too sweet for my taste.
