Bottle, bought @ the brewery. Malty, slightly roasty flavor with licorice, pear, caramel and yeasty notes. Very flavorful brew.

Test vom 24.4.2006, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 14,12,14,10,9,10 - 11,25

Bottled, thanks to DerDoppelbock. Strong aroma of dark malts. Hazy, brown color, irregular beige head, fair lace. Light sweet, light bitter to bitter in the finish, roasted, dark caramel. Medium body and smooth. Very good example of the Dunkel style.

Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass zippy, dark, almost black, nice head. Starts mild, modest malty-dry, not too roasty. More and more malty with hints of chocolate. Finish well balanced, quite drinkable. Nice!

Tap/ The head is robust, the color red-brown. It tastes special, hoppy, barley, dark malty. Ok 12/11/10/11/-/11

Grima (1861) - Saarburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, GERMANY - AUG 5, 2011
Pours a bright ruby red beer with a huge creamy head. Smells malty sweet, slightly earthy in the background. Starts pronounced malty, slightly roasty, pleasantly sour in the background, which is perfectly complemented with the yeast. The finish shows very roasted malty, full-bodied, slightly bitter, with a subtle smokiness.

Malzschokoladiger, getreidiger Geruch. Start malzig-getreidig. Mitte süßlich-getreidig, liquide. Malzschokoladig und moderat bitter abklingend. Ok.

TaxiDriver (1394) - Stadland, GERMANY - MAY 22, 2007
Nice styled bottle and a unique container for the four bottles. The aroma starts with roasted malt and a little bit of gras and earth which is followed by some sweetness. The appearance of this beer marvelous: A rocky head, coloured between some off-white and light brown, fully lasting. The hue of the body is a nice red, the clarity is clear. The flavor starts bitter and finished also lightly bitter with a hint of sweetness. The duration is very long. A medium body with a dry texture and a lively carbonation. A truly great beer, one of the bests I’ve ever drank so far. Maybe the best in germany...!?!

Otje (677) - Veendam, NETHERLANDS - MAY 15, 2006
Swingtop bottle 33 cl. Cloudy dark amber with an off-white head. Aromas of yeast, nutty, fruity and some chocolate. Tastes sweet, bitterish, salty, chocolate and roasted malt. Salty, fruity, dry finish. Thin bodied, maybe a bit watery palate. Fairly complex beer.
