Pours a deep black with a beige head. Aroma of burnt pine, cedar, dank pine forest hop, deep dark sweet malt. Flavor of bitter pine, burnt toast, cocoa, caramel, super dank hop resin. Med mouthfeel, bitter finish and avg carbo. It's great!

Draft at Alewife. Pours near black with a beige head. Piney hops, hard roasted malts, moderate sweetness, and a nice piney (chinook?) finish. Nice and aggressive and delicious. Pretty dope.

The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: Pours black with a beige head. Aroma is chocolate malts, some piney hops, some roast. Taste is hoppy at the front and a bit bitter. Porter backbone melds well with it. Not too much of the citrus hops that are often found in Black IPAs. Easy to drink. Quite nice.

Tap at the Jeffrey as I run some errands this cold Saturday. Pours deep blackish brown. Nose is piney hops and hint of cocoa. Tastes of pine, roasted malt, rootbeer, and earthy bitterness. Medium bodied and refreshing.

Draft at the Jeffrey with Linh. Is this a hoppy Porter or a roasty black IPA? I don’t care. Pours a deep brown, nearly black body with thin off white lacing. Aroma is pine, light roast and grain. Mouthfeel is medium with notes of fresh pine hop dominating and light roasty notes following. Reminds me of maine beer company’s take on the style.
