Deze tripel heeft een beukenhouten kleur. ’t Weinige schuim trekt helaas snel weg. Duidelijk hoog op hop, maar ook op zoet. Smaak: honing, kandij en hop. Prima.

33cl Bottle shared. . Almost clear orange body, with a medium rocky head. Aroma: soft spices some orange and mandarin, a touch of caramel. Taste: Fruity sweet (canned mandarins and ooranges), some caramel, however the grainy backbone and the spices safe it., hints of alcohol in the finish. Medium body, average carbonation. Decent orange tasting triple. (Backlog rating)

Opaque light copper, off-white lacing foam head. Barley aroma, bitter barley in taste. Floral and grass notes. Not too sweet, nice. Lasting aftertaste. (Velp 201604)

Medium, cream-coloured head, slightly irregular, over faintly veiled foxy orange beer. Oxydation, old cookies jumping up whilst pouring. Yet BBd still 6 months away. Coffeemilk, oxydized malts, maltsyrup. More oxydation in the taste, with a fine sourish lining, milk beginning to sour; Alcoholsweet, grains and malts, corn. Spritzy carbonation, blanketed by the thick, near viscous maltload. Oops. DeScription says it all.

33cl bbJUN2016, courtesy of bierkoning trade, bedankt. Opened in afterthought to the Biere mit Stil 1: Worldwide Tripel Tasting@Bierhandlung Freiburg JAN2016. - Amber yellow. Smells like very organic, rich grains and their husks, pollen honey, dried grasses and flowers. Manages to be both rich, dry, well-composed, grainy and grass bitter. Has a high-gravity, dense mouthfeel to it that does not feel sweet, but richly textured. Is there Saaz in this (spicy Czech sawdust feel to the hop aggression)? Aberrant analogue: all barley (pilsner malt) Weizenbock filled to the brim with grain husk and earthy EU hop bitterness. Not sure if I’d recognise this as the intended abbey tripel in a blind tasting, but for its abv it surely offers a well-rounded sipper with no fumes or cloying sweetness.

Bottle from Mitra Bunnik, BB Sep 2016, large sample. Almost clear orange color, medium rocky head. Aroma is soft spicy, quite some orange and mandarin, bit sweet fruity with a touch of caramel. Bit sweet in taste, combination of orange and mandarin together with caramel. Slight grainy note. Bit sparkling in the finish, slight alcohol. I like orange forward tripels and I quite like this tripel. Nice!
