500 ml bottle conditioned, thanks to my beerpal Olav. Gyle: OHO005. ABV is 5.0%. Hazy golden colour, moderate white head. Pleasant aroma of Christmas spices, possibly including coriander, cinnamon and cloves, hints of citrus. Refreshing citrussy and distinctly spicy / peppery flavour. Aftertaste of pepper and bitter hops. Not your average Christmas ale, but quite enjoyable.

Old Fountain. Cask. Lightly hazy gold beer, bubbly white head. Palate is smooth with modest fine carbonation. Semi dry malt, touch of cream. Light malt rawness as well, nothing serious. Whisper of banana ester. Mellow orangey hop, bare whsipernof spice. Smooth finish. Quite drinkable.

Cask at the Rake, Borough, 28/12/13. Clear golden with a moderate white covering that retains well. Nose is light spice, bitter orange, caramel, bready malts. Taste comprises light must, winter spices, bitter orange, dark fruit tang. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry bittering closure. Ok offering, nothing I’d rush back to mind - assume the classic ’whelmed’ formation!

Tap at the rake. Golden light amber pour with no head. Aroma is sweet pumpkin nutty. Light apple tart. Palate is medium body and apple juice, some cinnomon. Slightly woody.

Purchased bottled from Hay Deli, Hay-on-Wye who usually have a good selection of beers and ciders. Lively on the pour and a fruity tangerine on the nose the first thing to notice after that is the appearance. Now I don’t mind a bit of sediment or for a beer to be a bit murky... but there were particles in this that a garden fence could filter out. The resulting settle glass has a look of pond. Not a great start. Unfortunately sour to the taste, admittedly with some fruity back notes, but a lasting metallic finish. I don’t know what else to say. Possibly the most disappointing beer I’ve had.

500ml bottle from Drinker’s Paradise. A delicious bubbly brew, kinda sweet with faint orange & grapes.

Cask handpull, Post Office Vaults, Birmingham. Slim-capped, bright orange gold. Soft, grassy, gelatinous aroma translating into a similar flavour; washy orange wine gum, grass, minerals, herb. Late biscuit finish. Still, almost flat condition. Light meaty, vegetable stock notes. In truth pretty drab: struggled with a pint.

UPDATED: AUG 20, 2011 (bottled)headless bronze with a shitload of sediment , not too refined to look at ...tastes pretty fruity and citrusy , almost like generic fruit cordial. Not really detecting any festive spice or vibes from this ’Christmas’ seasonal.

Cask (handpump) at the White Horse on Parsons Green, 27 February 2011. Clear gold / amber colour. Sweetish. A bit fruity - couldn’t really identify particular fruits though.. Maybe some citrus. Pleasant enough, and quite well balanced, but didn’t make too much of a splash.
