Clear light golden ale which shows a small cover of white foam. The nose displays lots of herbal intricacies with tart perfumey, shampoo-like hop nuances. Pretty tart and grainy mouthfeel. The beer feels disappointing after the nice and original nose. Tasty, but unappealing flavour disposition.

(Cask at GBBF, London, 9 Aug 2007) Golden yellow colour with white head. Fruity nose with notes of grassy, citrussy hops. Fruity taste with a balanced hop taste with citrus and grapefruit. Some malt sweetness shines through the hops. Good balance, fresh hops.

Cask conditioned at Brecon Beer Festival, Castle Hotel, Brecon, Powys. Gold with white head. Light, bright and hoppy golden beer, lively and fresh with a citric, lemony bite. the Brewer was helping out at the festival and was really proud of his beers, rightly so, they were terrific.

Cask (gravity dispense) at Reading Beer Festival, April 2006. A pale gold, fragrant, hoppy beer in the mould of Oakham JHB and Dark Star Hophead. In fact I see I marked it higher than JHB, although I’m not sure the sample of JHB I rated was in peak condition (note to re-rate). Crisp and refreshing. Citric (grapefruit/lemon) and slightly resinous. Plenty of flavour and strength but, as you’d expect from a relatively low ABV beer, the body is quite light. Does what it does very well though.
