Bottle from can’t remember where. Clouded deep purple colour with a very rich but not quite sickly sweet sweetness. Has a spirit-like aftertaste.

Clear dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is light and semi dry. Modest fine carbonation. Mild dark malts, tangy and a little thin. Touches of dark chocolate and dark fruits. Light semi dry finish, with mild bitterness. Light on it’s feet and fine.

Appearance: Dark brown with ruby highlights and a finger thick beige head. Aroma: Cold coffee, hints of dark chocolate, reminds me a bit of tiramisu, roast malts. Taste: Medium sweetness, low bitterness, low/medium sourness. Palate: Thick smooth texture, medium body, low/average carbonation, abrupt chocolatey, cold coffee, malty finish. Comments: Lovely and slight lacing.

Although the somewhat over eager frothy head tried to jump across, well, everything I really enjoyed this high quality porter. Rich roasted wood flavours, a bit bitter and even tickling the sides of my mouth, it delivered fruits and chocolate all in once. A real prince of a beer, wish we could get them here in Norway.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Absolutely gushed a clear dark brown with a bubbly white head. Really.... I lost most of this beer on my kitchen work surface! The aroma is yeast red berry fruit alcohol. The flavour is medium sweet with a yeast medicinal alcoholic bitter palate. Medium bodied with frothy carbonation. No way is this a porter and I strongly suspect it’s infected. Barely drinkable.

Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. This is a dark copper coloured beer with chocolate and black cherry flavours, liquorice notes and a fruity and slight roasted finish.
