Cask conditioned at The Grapes, Oxford. Hazy copper with white head. This was a spicy number, cardomon, ginger and coriander came to mind, quite yeasty in a Belgian Ale way. Fullish on the palate, lasting. Decent enough if quite unusual.

Cask, Handpump, The Firefly, Worcester, Saturday 4th January 2014. Pours black with a creamy off-white head. Roasty in the mouth, soft, very tangy quite nice, full flavoured. Furry in the mouth, leaves a little hoppy furry coating, a little spicy around the edges. Good but not great. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov13 3.3

Dark Auburn with an off white head withering to ringed. Rich syrupy esterage lightly toasted nose. Raking grain and super sweet yeast initial taste, nicely cutting bitterness and a Steely middle. Oily, thick, lovely dessert range mouthfeel. Creamy enough towards the finish and inviting tinselly copper linger. Not as bad as I’d thought.

Cask, Blackfriars Glasgow

Dark spicey Belgian ale. Lacing of beige head. Sweet malt balanced by phenol yeast esters and sweet but peppery spices from yeast and grains of paradise.

Cask at The Nags Head in Reading. Darkest saison that I have tasted. Solid earthy flavours coming through after the classic saison hit.

Dark reddish brown with a brownish transparent head. Taste is a mixture of conventional porter (dry & smokey) with a distinct berry fruitiness permeating throughout.
