Das Original Oberladara ist ein dunkles Bier, bei dem die Vollmundigkeit im Vordergrund steht. Zusätzlich wurde der Geschmack durch ein feines Hopfenaroma abgerundet.

Bottle… February in Franconia (2011)… Clear, deep amber lager with a small, creamy, white head that never fully vanishes. The bouquet is toasty and roasty with a splash of tawny port and a touch of sorghum molasses. Medium to full-bodied with a buttery mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. The nutty, toasted malt flavor is mildly sweet and a tad vinous. Finishes crisp and fairly clean. Thanks go out to erlangernick and Koelschtrinker for making this month of Franconian lagers possible!

Dark bronze color, the head disappears very quickly. Smells like strong caramel malt and roasty notes. The beginning part is intense roasty, slightly spicy and good caramel. The aftertaste is very malty bitter. The center part is clearly bitter, bitter hops come to light.

Bottle looks good, beer in the glass also. Dark, nice head. Starts malty and dry, modest sourish. Finish a bit more metallically, a bit unbalanced. Drinkable, but not my favourite!

Bottle. Chestnut, fine carbonation, creamy off-white head. Nice toasted bready aroma, hop nuances. Chewy mouthfeel, good body, present but not cloying sweetness. Light nutty and roasted notes, fitting bitter and aromatic hop counterpoint. Quite drinkable and moreish.

Bottle from Bierboutique Ölwechsel, Frankfurt. Clear copper, nice head. Herbal nose, followed by caramel flavours. Well-balanced. Well-made, but a tad anonymous.

Bottle, 5.3% bought at the brewpub. Clear dark brown colour. Stable tan head. OK malty flavour, a little brown sugar, but not sugary as such. Good mouthfeel.

The color is dark amber and the head is creamy. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, caramel and candy sugar. The sweet flavour has notes of roasted malt, candy sugar, caramel, nuts, and the finish is slightly dry.

bottle from frankenbrotzeit. Clear brown colour, mid-sized off-white head. Malty nose. Medium-bodied, pleasantly malty with hints of caramel and rasetd malts, also shy hints of coffee. Slightly hoppy in the finish.

We got to Drugendorf and I was so damn thirsty I stopped at the Kohlmann Brewery, not realizing it’s been closed for years and wasn’t the brewery I was looking for. Thankfully, they had beer from another country brewer, Ott. Ceramic mug. The aroma is toast, breadcrust. Dry, earthy, minerally, with light breadcrust notes.. Clean, basic dunkles. Very dry finish for the style.
