COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly Ottakringer Gold Fassl Wiener Pils

(Translated from German):
The classic among the Austrian Pils beers. The Goldfassl Pils was, when its premiere was celebrated in 1977, Austria’s first Pils. Since that time it ranks among the classics of its style. The Goldfassl Pils is a wonderful light, slim beer specialty with a pronounced hop note and a balanced, noble body. A beer for people with style - and one of the best Pils beers in the world. 11.2°

Draught at Bettelstudent, Vienna, Austria. Poured a clear light golden amber colour with a one-finger white foamy head that collapsed quickly. Very low carbonation. Aroma slightly of hops. Taste bland. Light body.

From a 0.5 L bottle, sampled at my hotel room in Wien. Pale gold, thin white head. Smell of stale hops, sweet malts and lemonade. Unfresh sourish-sweet malt flavor. Notes of an artificial lemon-like fruitiness. More stale hops for bittering. Light body. Short, unfresh finish. A below average eurolager.

Ser ut och smakar som en traditionell lager. Inte alls pilsens stramare, bittrare kännetecken. Dålig för sin stil, en OK lager.

Bottle 500ml.

Clear medium yellow colour with a average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, grain, toasted, sweet malt, hay, cardboard, vegetables - cabbage - kale. Flavour is moderate sweet with a average duration, cardboard, fruity malt. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. [20111105]

Bottle. It pours a clear, golden body and a small, white head. The aroma is rather bad, cellary and cardboardy with some fruityness. The flavor is pretty much the same, rather poor with cellar and cardboard, some fruityness. Seriously lacking on bitterness. Medium to thin body, a bit low on carbonation. Certainly not a beer I’ll drink again. 111105
