Hazy dark amber with thin disappearing lacy head. Smells bitter sweet with caramel and malt with but with a clear bitter nut. Medium thin body. Tastes sweet at first of caramel, light fruits and malt with a soft bitter dry finish. Decent in balance but nothing too impressive. Easily forgettable.

Delightfully malty ale with a pleasantly spiced aroma and aftertaste. Quite sweet with fruits evident.

Pours a light brown coppery with a small head. Malty, hoppy nose, drinks bitter with caramel malt. Slightly dry finish.

Cask at the Walmer Castle W11. This is a classic copper coloured West Country bitter, with a malty background with a slightly fruity hop finish. Bitter, but also sweetish. Not bad.

Cask by handpump at Last Post, Paisley (21 Apr 12) - clear dark amber ale, thin white head, good temperature, mild malt aroma, caramel malt, not outstanding, but well drinkable

Cask at the Moon under Water, Hounslow. Mahogany with a fine beige head, malt, red fruit and a hint of tartness on nose. Good full body with great hop/malt balance.

First tasted this at The Esquire House, Glasgow (JDW) in October 2007. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear orange amber in colour with a thick creamy white head. Malted biscuit notes in the short aroma. Zingy mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malt gives a digestive biscuit base with strong orange peel citrus flavours present. Slight note of hop resins giving a dusty floral tone to the short bitter aftertaste. Finish is malty with sweet digestive biscuit flavours still present in the mouth. A decent sesion bitter.

Cask. Some carbonation. Lacing but not a lasting head. Aromas like malt loaf, almonds and cherries. Tastes well balanced - bitter and sweet. Good
