Golden brown, thin white bubbly head; fizzy, vaguely beer flavoured water; possibly not in the best condition at the Ashburton Arms, West Charleton, Devon.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A mid amber orange coloured beer with a frothy white head. A faint malt aroma is followed by a minerally, grassy hop aroma. Dry mouthfeel. A bitter hop taste to start, then a dry biscuity malt flavour comes through.
Tasted at the Harbour Inn, Lyme Regis, Dorset.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Clear darker yellow with frosty lacing white foam head. Aroma is a bitter all right, fine. Taste is good solid bitter English beer, no fuss. Nice aftertaste, something sweet present although, turning quite bitter at the end. (Wakefield 201309)

Cask in the New Inn, Mayshill. Copper coloured bitter, quite malty, some biscuit, just enough of a hop tingle. Very drinkable, I guess a nice enough session ale.

A malty and biscuity bitter with a full flavour, one of the best bitters I’ve had and an excellent example of the style

Slightly generic easy drinking bitter - a mid orange-brown colour. Malty and a litte grassy but generally not a lot going on. OK

On cask at the Almanack, Leicester. Pours a slightly cloudy amber with thick white head. Aroma of grass, straw and some malts. Taste isn’t too exciting. A little stale. Full mouth feel but a little oily. not great.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
23 March 2013. Hand-pulled pint in the lovely and remote ’Butchers Arms’ in the sleepy hamlet of Sheepscombe, Gloucestershire.
Golden brown body with small but staying head of white bubbles.
No great smell, but more malts than hops in what aroma there was.
Malts also lead the flavours in the mouth, mildy caramel and semi-sweet with a fruity background (mixed berrys) and a semi-dry hop bitter finish. Not bad at all for a 3.6% ABV session beer and ideal when driving, as I was on this day.
