3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle shared with biegaman, blankboy, tupalev & HogTownHarry - courtesy of HogTownHarry. Slightly hazy orange-amber with a small head. Aroma of sweet caramel-malt and herbal tea hops. Flavour starts sweet and malty, and develops a decent hoppiness in the middle and finish. Not bad, but nothing outstanding.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: OCT 18, 2006 Bottle (650ml). Shared with biegaman, blankboy and tupalev - my bottle. Clear amber with a small frothy off-white head. Thick sweet malt and resin/herbal tea-like hop aroma. Very malty flavour, herbal/funky bitter hops in the finish, light alcohol although the alcohol lingers. Thick body, good astringency and carbonation, slightly alcohol aftertaste - pretty decent IPA.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 oz. bottle via trade with 1FastSTi - Pours a clear amber color with a nice size off white head. Has a toasty malt, floral hop aroma. Flavor is mainly a toasted caramel malt. Hop bitterness is noticeable. Medium body. This beer is a pleasant change from most of the other hopped up IPAís. A good beer. Thanks Blake.

RBSG 2006 - DC Grand Tasting Lineup
Caramel color, light head and lacing. Nose of bright citrusy hops, along with some grass and wood. The flavor is balanced, some moderate bitterness and sweetness but the balance is more toward pale malt.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Frothy, but small white head over a cloudy copeery-orange body. The aroma is pretty mild - some hoppiness, as it is an IPA, and some slighlty floral notes, maybe even some heather. Really the flavor is OK, but nothing to write home about. It tastes old, stale, actually, and the finish is strangely bitter, and not in a pleasant IPA way.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from beer swap 2.0 - hurray for unfiltered beer - boo for unfiltered beer that doesnít taste that great - the aroma is kind of faint sweet malts, with an almost artificial yeasty quality - decent, earthy hops up front, followed by a decent malt balance, but this quickly drops out of the picture, leaving a rather thin, tangy citrus flavor that couples with an aspartame-like sweetness - it has its god points, but itís bad points are more numerous.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Interesting.... my version says "7.43% ABV". Anyhoo, Pours orange nut into the glass, with a thinly floating off-white head that leaves spider lace. The nose on this certainly isnít classic IPA. Iím not really sure what I pick up.... initially some skunk and caramel. On the tongue, I detect real astringency (almost acetone/antiseptic), covering most citrus aspects, and completely losing any grapefruit whatsoever. The malts are toffee sweet, and the hops kick in so quickly that itís hard to enjoy any real complexity. The finish is bitter (dry-hopped Saaz and Cascades???), but it all feels as if the astringency is what the beer is based on, and not complexity. I give a "tad" of credit, as I do detect trace amounts of pine and spice lingering at the end of the pull. Also, the mouthfeel is somewhat round and lively, I guess, but itís just so unilateral, I canít say itís my first (or second) recommendation. Even after letting it sit for 20 minutes or so, as the beer warms it only seems to get sweeter, really losing the citrus complexity of a classic IPA. Sorry folks, just isnít the best out there.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Skunky generic beer dirty boot and peanut butter toast aroma. Murky orange amber with big tufty beige head. skunky lager metal can flavor with some citrus buds and malt sweetness. semi sugary, tart, light. just ok, kinda unpleasant.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Clear light orange shade that is mounted by a tiny white head. Surprisingly, heady strong alcohol impression emanates from the glass, enveloping the fleshy orange and citrus fruit scents. Pretty light in terms of intensity besides that. In mouth, slight acetone and higher alcohols do surprise and remove from the otherwise rather juicy enjoyment. Really quite hot for its weight and rather disturbed in its bitterness that does not feel too clean. Light-medium bodied, medium carbonation. Under average ultimately.

bomber. Deep slightly hazy copper with a medium off white head with good lacing. Aroma, I got a touch of hops, but they are in the background. Caramel and heavy grains seem to dominate the aroma. The taste is sweet malts and caramel all the way, balanced by hops, but the hopping is not aggressive enough IMO to be an IPA. Lackluster for me personally.
