COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
India Pils Lager
Our spring seasonal offering brewed with 100 percent positive vibrations and single-hopped with Citra hops. The presence of the Citra hop is elevated by a clean fermenting lager yeast that allows the subtle Pilsner, Munich and Vienna malts to lay a crisp, bready foundation. The citrus and tropical fruit character of the Citra hop comes from kettle additions followed by a huge dose of ‘em again in the fermenter.

Bottle. Nose is beautiful Citra, lemon and pine with heavy crinkling Simcoe paper, some caramel bite and really awesome pithy/resinous character. Pours clear but rich sunny yellow and supports a dense, rocky bright white head, lots of lace. Taste is clear, medium-strong bitter with low astringency and a really nice whack of resin, woody and a little sticky with crisp carbonation and a somewhat bready resolution. I’d have called this dry, as the hops are very cleansing, but the fruitiness is strong and yanks the sweetness up in spurts and jerks. Earthy without dipping into caramel-land and very grassy. The fierce hop aftertaste is just awesome. A little too much booze showing, sort of an off-the-cuff lager, but the hops are wonderfully fresh and more than compensate. Medium body, refreshing, enjoyed this one a lot! And will be buying a sixer.

Pours out a hazy light lemon yellow. Thin white lacy head. Aroma of flowers and citrus. Flavor and body are on the lighter side, but with plenty of grapefruit-rind bitterness. Lingering bitter finish. So glad they are selling this in 12 packs! A great anytime brew!

Thanks to my Mother-in-law for this and my wife for hauling it back! Pours a hazy dull yellow with a lofty white head. The smell is lemon, grapefruit, grain. The taste is grapefruit, lemon, grain ending dry and bitter. Light in body with nice active carbonation. A real puckering citrus brew.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run. Pours a slightly hazy pale amber color with a very thin off-white head. Poor head retention. Aroma of citrus, tropical, earthy hops and faint pale malts. The taste is grainy malts, caramel, citrus and tropical hops. Thin-medium bodied.

Wow that aroma. Super strong almost floral smell. Pours hazy yellow orange, almost looks like an iced tea. Very interesting taste, super hop driven with a bite, yet alittle unique sweetness seeping through. Super hoppy but good to mixit up ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: JUN 2, 2014 Pours light hazy yellow color with white head. Grassy, citrus, tropical fruit aroma. Sweet almost pineapple start. Spicy yeasty pilsner flavor followed with a big piney, citrus flavor. Taste like a German Pilsner with the hell hopped out of it.

Bottle. Pours light white golden with a sticky white head. Aromas of lemon, pineapple, white bread. Taste is dominated by grassy, piney hops. A little citrus in there too. Ends dry, grassy hop.

12 oz bottle purchased from Charlestown Wine & Spirits. Pours a light hazy golden with plenty of bubbles and a small white head, quick to dissipate. Certainly smells of citra, lemon, grapefruit and pineapple not a heavy smell. Not a heavy taste either, rather bitter with a dry finish. Fruit/citra aftertaste hits rather nicely on palate after sipping. Still the bitterness dominates, hopping out a lager just makes it taste like an ale. And not the best balanced ale ever, honestly this style confuses me.

12oz split 2 ways... thanks Nick! Hazy vibrant yellow pour, with a big head and decent lacing. Smell is grass, tropical fruit, citrus, and lager yeast. Taste is super grassy, a bit of tropical fruits and citrus. A tangy bitter finish. Easy drinking.

$6.50 for the full pint purchased at the Grog yesterday evening. Pours a effervescent amber gold with which a sudsy, off-white head 1 finger in length rested. Aromas of seaweed, straw, wheat grain, corrugated fiberboard, fish oil, candied citrus, and pistachios. Tastes of everything described above, with the addition of bitter orange peel, Karo syrup, and burnt plastic by mid palate. Experienced a fair amount of lager yeast and 49er flapjacks by swallow. Enjoyable. I find it simply wonderful that the IPL had been released by another prominent New England brewery besides Jack’s Abby. Only good things can come of this.
