Bottle. Interesting twists here. Presents a slightly-more-hazy take on a classic European pilsner, bright golden with a frothy white head. The aroma is tight and citric. This drinks with what would generally form a solid basis for a great, snappy pilsner. The citra brings an uber-lemon, citric acidity that takes it a great step forward from the "old way." Nicely done. (#5454, 3/8/2014)

12 oz. bottle. Pour is slightly hazy gold with a big fluffy white head. Nose is a bit yeasty with piney spicy hops and grapefruit. Taste is not quite what I expected. Good bit of malt and citrus sweetness up front smoothed out by the lager yeast and a mildly bitter and citrusy aftertaste. Mouthfeel is light to medium, really good lacing. This is a really nice spring beer.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 ounce bottle. Hazy pale gold color. Huge Rocky white head. Exquisite clinging lace. Wonderful perfumy citra hop nose. First sip brings a mix of complex sweet toasted malt and lemony hops. Slightly sulphury and yeasty as you reach the midtaste. This a big hoppy brew that doesn’t overwhelm the palate. Beautiful balance and amazing quafability. Finishes slightly sweet with a touch of pink grapefruit. All in all, a splendid effort.

Golden straw colour, good sized head, lots of lace. Citrus and tropical fruit, grass in the aroma. Nice blast of hops up front, lemongrass, tropical fruit, a bit of dankness, biscuit, light sweetness. Body is spot on. Incredibly drinkable.

Bottle. Hazy gold with a tall, frothy white head. Lots of floral hops, citrus fruit, tropical fruit and soft malt in the nose. Taste is big floral hops, citrus, soft pine, tropical fruit, sweet malt, light caramel and soft toasted malt. Body is medium with a moderate, bubbly carbonation and lingering hop bitterness. Light resinous notes as well. Ends with more big floral hops, hop resins, light pine, tropical fruit, citrus oils, light caramel, toasted malt and sweet malt notes. Damn tasty!

The India Pale Lager fad is one that I very much enjoy. The citra hops are at the forefront of this brew and are awesome.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Railroad. Pours clear straw color with minimal head that leaves lacing. Nose is pears and other juicy fruits, pilsner malt. first sip is bready and full of biscuits, clean lager finish but it competes with the mild grapefruit from the citra hops. not bad.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
I wasn’t sure what this was when poured. It is a clear light amber with a thin head. The aroma has some bread and Pilsner malts. The flavor has a hint of lemon grass, nice sweet malt and a bit of citrus. It has a dry peppery finish. This will be fantastic when the weather gets warm.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
This looks great poured into a glass, slightly hazy white/yellow with a huge heap of white foam that sticks around a long time. Delicious aromas of citrus with some underlying dankness. Sweet citrus flavor dominates, with a tiny bit of onion and honey. There is a little bit of bready lager beneath it all. It leaves behind a lingering tangy bitterness with hints of citrus remaining. The beer is really smooth in the mouth and leaves behind just a tiny bit of stickiness. Really excellent overall, on par with Jack’s Abby but with a lower abv than many of their offerings.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Hazy golden color with a big, fluffy head. Looks like a lager, but not a crappy, fizzy pale lager. Fine specks of lace.
The aroma is pure citrus: mild grapefruit, tangerine. The malts are crisp and light, almost lemony sweet. There is a hint of fresh pine needles. It actually smells really great.
Taste fulfills the promise of the aroma: most sweet citrus. Grapefruit, pineapple, blood orange, nectarine. That pilsnery malt doesn’t really balance anything out but it does enhance the pungent tree-fruit flavors the beer already has.
Feels "wet," medium-bodied, suits the style just fine. This is definitely a citrus-bomb. It’s not that complex, not that balanced, but it’s quite drinkable.
