3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 RyanK (121) - Rhode Island, USA - DEC 5, 2011
Pours a murky copper with a small, white foam head that quickly dissipates. Smells more like a Marzen, sweet and lightly malty like a lager. It doesn’t taste this way, however. Beer has a much stronger malt than any lager. Apparently uses 6 malts which taste mostly bread-y and a little Carmel-ish. Hops are quiet light and finishes malty. Like a stronger more improved lager, which doesn’t make it that special but easy to drink,

Pours a deep copper color with a huge white head that slowly recedes and places much sticky lace on the sides of the glass. Smells quite malty with toffee and caramel being dominant in the nose. Bready with faint earthy hops round out the nose. Taste is toffee and caramel with earthy hops and hints of pine. Medium body with a spirited level of carbonation and a bubbly sweet mouthfeel. Decent brew that’s easy to drink. Not really my favorite style, but glad to have tried it.
