3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
355ml bottle pours amber in color with a small white head that settles to some spotty lacing. Aroma is light caramel and mild hops. Taste is nicely balanced between the malty sweetness and hop bitterness which are both mild. Light to medium body with some decent carbonation. A nice representation of the style.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. The pour is an almost hazy dark amber with a full head that dissipates in short order. Lots of lacing leftover. The aroma is full of toffee malts, sweetness, and barley grains. The body is about medium. The taste is also malty and of routine strength with a brisk hoppiness thrown in at the end. Not bad overall.

On tap at the dutch, into a cheater pint
Amber color with a nice silkey off white head, good retention. Scent of light roast and noble hop. Nice malt body melded well with noble hop, slight chalkiness. Over all a good beer and a style I wish was more common.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle had at a restaurant in New York City. Pours copper colour with a small white head that recedes to a ring. Smells a little malty and not much else. Slightly bitter and malt flavor.

From the four pack sampler case. Thin on the pour and the body, somehow the flavor still comes through. Hops are very present in this ale, maybe a little overdone but all together this is one you can remember.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Otter Winter Beer #1. Figured this was an alt, given the eathy malt and toffee aroma. They’ve changed the label since the image was submitted, so now it matches old penny color of the ale inside. Sweet front but weird hairy aftertaste. Medium bodied...and barely. Not as enjoyable as I remember six or seven years back.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours clear dark amber with a fading beige head. Initial aroma of citrus, the earth, spice and caramel. Tastes like a hoppy Oktoberfest with earthy hops over malty goodness. I’d get this beer regularly if it was in my area.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a murky copper with a small, white foam head that quickly dissipates. Smells more like a Marzen, sweet and lightly malty like a lager. It doesn’t taste this way, however. Beer has a much stronger malt than any lager. Apparently uses 6 malts which taste mostly bread-y and a little Carmel-ish. Hops are quiet light and finishes malty. Like a stronger more improved lager, which doesn’t make it that special but easy to drink,

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a deep copper color with a huge white head that slowly recedes and places much sticky lace on the sides of the glass. Smells quite malty with toffee and caramel being dominant in the nose. Bready with faint earthy hops round out the nose. Taste is toffee and caramel with earthy hops and hints of pine. Medium body with a spirited level of carbonation and a bubbly sweet mouthfeel. Decent brew that’s easy to drink. Not really my favorite style, but glad to have tried it.
