Oakes (6979), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Sep 20, 2008 Golden-amber. Malty-caramel nose with notes reminiscent of glossette raisins. Caramel taste, some bready notes. Hop dryness towards the finish. Thin body. Lacks focus. Beershine (1440), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Sep 18, 2008 Bright golden copper with slight haze. Good white head that lasts. Rusty, chalky. Some fruit, some sweet cereal. Oily mouthfeel. Sweet metallic. Sulfuric, strange and strong. Not bad, not good. Radek Kliber (3339), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 4, 2008 Bottle 650 ml
Appearance: Slightly hazed amber bock with bright white , off-creamy head. 3+ Nose: Mineral hop feel with off fruity malts . Stylistically ok but felt a bit empty an generic. Flavor/Palate : Medium light bodied. A bit shallow with its malt character. Slight bitter hop accents. Closer to Polish Mocne than to German bocks. blipp (818), Grand Island, New York, USA Jul 7, 2008 Bottle. Pours orange with an off white head. Sweet malt aroma with caramel and toast. Medium, smooth body. Flavor is a little dull, but sweet, with toasty and herbal notes. Not bad, very drinkable. notalush (2078), Rawn-kawn-kohma, New York, USA Mar 22, 2008 Hazy golden beer, with a slight copper tint - aroma of wildflowers steeped in honey, with a bit of spicy hops, and some noticeable diacytel, but it doesn’t detract too much from the enjoyment - the flavor has some honey character, but it is not nearly as sweet as the aroma suggests, and the diacytel is not present at all - on top of the mellow sweetness, some soft herbal, tea-like flavors, mildly spicy hops, some doughy character - notes of wildflowers linger, and the hops add a bite at the end - this is a damn fine maibock, and another surprise from Otter Creek.
