4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This offering from Otter Creek pours a bright, clear, and clean amber orange color with some small carbonated bubbles in the glass. The nose of this brew is like herbal tea, some spicy fruit aspects come out but not heavy in nature just pleasing to the nose. The taste is a bitter blast of fruity oily hops. It then moves to a solid malt backbone for sweetness which really balances the beer. Very nice ESB best Iíve tasted in awhile.

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
22oz bottle: Pours to a totally clear medium pale amber with a medium, creamy & thick eggshell-colored head that has nice retention and lacing. The aroma is a combination of lightly acidic vegitables, which could also be called musty-earthy-malt, but there is just a bit of acidic fruit bite to it that I donít like. There are also scents of dried flowers, and melons. The taste is bitter dried flowers, bitter floral hops, earthy hops, earthy malt, a bit of residual sugar that give the sense of underattenation towards the middle, red clover, and dried wood. Finishes nicely dry but with some medicinal notes as frothingslosh notes, as well as bitter flowery hops, and a bit of stale grains towards the end. Light bodied, medium carbonated though the bubbles feel very large and forced, itís water and large forced bubbles in soda without any creamy, crisp, fine, or round mouthfeel Iíd like from beer. Their Cerveza Cacao is much better than this one.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: AUG 26, 2007 I have not been much impressed with this brewer. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a ruby chestnut color with a large tan head. The aroma is strong fruity and floral hops with a vaguely spicy undertone. The flavor is bitter and a bit medicinal with strong floral hops and light dry fruity flavors underneath. The finish is dry and vaguely medicinal. Sadly for a beer whoís aroma and appearance offered such promise this beer just fails to deliver.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle... Clear, amber ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Spicy, woodsy nose with notes of black pepper and dried flowers. Decently balanced, but a bit boring... such is the style. Light to medium-bodied with a thin, oily mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Finishes a touch bitter and a little dry.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
This is a fine looking bitter, nice golden amber with a fluffy white head. Musty aroma with cobwebs and slight fruit. A cacophany of flavor - some sweet caramel malt, lots of yeasty dough and stinging amount of lemon hops on the swallow. Tastes a little like I swallowed a multi-vitamin. Not delicious.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Clear amber, thin creamy off white head. Uninspired nose of spicy hops, toasty caramel, light florals and fruityness. Spicy hop flavors throughout with a very light fruity and soft malt tone late. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, spicy bitter hop finish. If you hand me one, I would never turn it down, but I certainly wonít go out of my way for it either.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
12 oz bottle purchased at City Market in Burlington, VT. Cellar temperature sampling, from a Flying Fish pint glass. Absolutely clear light amber-copper, smallish quick-receding head with light residue coating the glass....simple malty-sugary, lightly woody nose...body a bit sugary-syrupy at first, quickly dries out and becomes rather astringent and harsh to finish....what little real flavor this is seems dry, woody and somewhat mineralic....thick, lightly carbonated mouthfeel. Really doesnít work; supposedly this is set to replace the Mudbock, my favorite OC beer...sad but not surprising from this least interesting of Vermont brewers.
