COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A big, unfiltered American IPA built to accompany the big Eastern Winter. Just like an epic bluebird day follows a snow storm, a peppery build from the Rye-malt accompanies glorious hop notes of pine, citrus and fresh grass.

The bold Rye-malt backbone warms the soul, whether after a long day on the slopes with your buds, or just sitting in front of the fireplace at home.

At 60 IBUs, Kind Ryed uses a combination of Apollo, Simcoe, Chinook and Centennial hops to create a drinkable brew that won’t wipe out your tastebuds. The new look bottle label and packaging artwork goes out-of- bounds and embraces the freeriding spirit of our Brewmaster, Mike Gerhart. It’s his bus that adorns the label and his recipe that fills the bottles. Hop on the bus and take a Kind Ryed with us.

Bottle. Pours a hazy amber color with a small head that fades to a messy ring. Leaves some nice webbing. Tons of sediment but I think I poured the bottle too fast. Aroma is very citrusy with some rye and grass as well. Drinks smooth. Lots of rye malt adds a spiciness. Grapefruit and lemon citrus. Grassy and spicy finish. Sharp carbonation. Solid rye beer.

Cloudy pineapple yellow. Big creamy head. Heavy pine/cannabis aroma. Malt aroma is bready. Very pleasant. The flavor is very piney, oily as hell. All malts abandoned here. Still very good though, even though it’s crazily unbalanced. The feel is prickly, appropriately like pine needles. The flavors and aromas are no joke. It’s kind of a one-trick pony but that pony can hustle around the track.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a murky dark orange-tan color with a large foamy orange-tan head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was tangy and sweet with notes of grapefruit, orange and a bit of pineapple. The flavor was bitter and tart with grapefruit, orange and lemon. Long finish. Medium body. Solid.

Hazy super deep copper coloured body with some orange tints and a nice bronze highlight, all with a thick, three cenitmetre tall tan head. Aroma of bright hops, rye, sage, malt, alcohol and some tropical fruit sweetness. Medium-bodied; Strong specialty grain flavour at first with some deeply bittering hops and a pungent malt note, some lighter alcohol and sweet flavours, all finishing with a nice rye malt coupled with some good hop flavours. Aftertaste shows a good balance of hops and malt, with a kick of rye and still some airy dry herbal flavours as well. Overall, a nice rye-based IPA with a complex profile and still some good sweet notes on the end. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Giant Food in Falls Church (Skyline/Bailey’s Crossroads), Virginia on 13-February-2014 for US$1.83 sampled at home in Washington on 30-March-2014.

Bottle. Pours a hazed golden orange with a frothy off-white head. Aroma of toasted malts, pine, citrus fruits, and had notes of rye. Flavor of mild citrus, bitter grapefruit, sticky pine, toasted malts, spicy rye and had a crisp bitter finish.

Hazy orange with a big dense head. Aroma citrusy and fruity, with a strong pine note. Taste citrusy and bitter, with a nice touch of spice that’s probably the rye. Nice bitter finish with just a touch of over-bitter aftertaste that’s not quite pleasant. Very good otherwise, with a nice warming feeling in the stomach.
