A big, unfiltered American IPA built to accompany the big Eastern Winter. Just like an epic bluebird day follows a snow storm, a peppery build from the Rye-malt accompanies glorious hop notes of pine, citrus and fresh grass.

The bold Rye-malt backbone warms the soul, whether after a long day on the slopes with your buds, or just sitting in front of the fireplace at home.

At 60 IBUs, Kind Ryed uses a combination of Apollo, Simcoe, Chinook and Centennial hops to create a drinkable brew that won’t wipe out your tastebuds. The new look bottle label and packaging artwork goes out-of- bounds and embraces the freeriding spirit of our Brewmaster, Mike Gerhart. It’s his bus that adorns the label and his recipe that fills the bottles. Hop on the bus and take a Kind Ryed with us.

Bottle to a glass mug. Pours a cloudy yellow with a yellowish head. Great nose of citrus hops. Has a nice citrus hop flavor, not too overpowering. The rye adds an earthy flavor. Pretty good.

Pours a very hazy, dark golden orange color with a two finger, pillowy white head that very slowly settles into a thick, lasting ring. Excellent retention, taking a while to settle and leaving sporadic soapy lacing on the way down. Slightly earthy floral hop aroma that’s bursting with juicy citrus and tropical fruit notes. Some resinous oil, fresh cut grassy and sticky pine needle but the sweeter fruit notes really stand out. Prominent grapefruit and citrus rind along with some mango, papaya, pineapple and blood orange. The hop presence is balanced by a faint pale malt presence with hints of bread, faint caramel and grainy graham cracker. Smells very good but could use a stronger earthy/resinous character. Medium body with dry, earthy bitterness lingering over sweet citrus/tropical fruit notes and a faint pale malt backbone into a sweet, slightly dry finish. Some grassy pine needle, spruce tip and sticky resinous oils countered by prominent fruit sweetness and pale biscuit malt. The juicy tropical and citrus fruit notes really stand out with hints of juicy grapefruit, mango, pineapple, curaçao and blood orange. The sweet clementine, naval orange and tangerine notes are strongest providing the hop profile with delicious flavor. Perfectly balanced by a pale malt backbone with hints of biscuit, cracker, a touch of spicy rye and subtle caramel sweetness. This beer could use a little more earthy bitterness but is otherwise an excellently balanced, flavorful beer that is dangerously drinkable.

Bronzed body with thin silken head. The aroma is dominated my a nice, distinct rye character that melds well into the hop bitterness. Sharply acerbic body rounded out by spicy rye flavors. Unrelentingly bitter and leafy finish.

A cloudy amber that some find unappealing. Why? Lots of good stuff floating in there. The aroma is very malty with bread, caramel and floral notes. The flavor is nicely balanced with the malt up front and the bitter hops rounding out. Nice medium body feel.

APPEARANCE - dark golden straw in color with good turbidity (thank you rye!) and a cheerful white head. NOSE - strong floral hops immediately. Very pleasing. FLAVOR - good ipa flavor with a bit of an aftertaste I can’t be certain of. NOTES - solid rye ipa.

Another great standby for a cheaper hoppy beer. Great Amber color, nice hop aroma and a good flavor at the start as well as a strong finish

Drank from a twelve ounce bottle, thank you Katrina!! :) Aromas of pine and flowers. Has a light initial taste, a very hoppy/bitter middle flavor and a very light crisp and light finish. A decent beer, complex, IPAs just are not my jam.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 11/6/2014. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy golden orange color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, bread, spicy rye, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of bright citrus/tropical hops and moderate bready rye malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, floral, grass, light caramel, bread, spicy rye, and floral/grassy earthiness. Large amount of pine, citrus rind, and spicy rye bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon/orange peel, pine, light caramel, spicy rye bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity and balance of bright citrus/tropical/piney hops and moderate bready rye malt flavors; with a crisp malt/bitterness balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and resinous/sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent rye IPA. All around great complexity and balance of bright citrus/tropical/piney hops and moderate bready rye malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

This was poured into a nonic pint glass. The appearance was a hazy burnt orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a thirty seconds. Light lacing strung about the glass. The smell had a nice balanced blend of sweet citrus over top of a light grapefruit, fresh and bright with a light grassiness coming in and out. The taste was bittersweet thoroughly balancing a crisp light spice into the mix. A sweet to lightly spiced aftertaste leads to a decent balanced dry to wet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation hit appropriate for the style and for me. Nice bittersweet grapefruit harshness rolls over my tongue. Overall, I say this was a pretty good AIPA that I could have again.

Bottle to shaker glass. Pours cloudy amber/orange, nice 2 finger frothy head, nice lacing, great retention. Aroma is citrusy and bright. Taste is incredibly balanced, nice peppery rye malt sweetness, complex bitterness. Medium bodied, lively carbonation, resin yet creamy mouth feel. Finishes slightly sweet but mostly long and pleasing bitters. Tasting notes of caramel, pepper, grass, spruce, lemon rind and grapefruit. Wow, this beer is fantastic! I’m on the bus!
