rocbyter (625), Waterbury, Connecticut, USA Feb 14, 2007 Updated: Oct 30, 2007 Complex aroma ranging between coffee, chocolate and nuts. Very dark amber coloring, blocks a lot of light. Some amount of fine brown sediment in the glass. Malty tastes with a light sweet start and light bitter finish. Creamy mouth feel.
Goodgrief (1018), Middletown, Delaware, USA Feb 10, 2008 Oct. 2006 - They almost got it. Beer poured looking slightly browner than a cola with a cola-like head (moderate but immediately dissipating). Aroma was bubblegum. The flavor had too much bubblegum. It was distracting and overwhelming. Underneath was a nice banana wheaty weizenbock flavor with a nice ashy smokiness to it that balanced nicely. If only the bubblegum flavor could be surgically removed, because it was bad Ughsmash (2985), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jan 21, 2008 Bomber. Poured clear, deep coppery brown with a short-lived cap of tan head. The aroma picked up darker chocolate with bunches of toasty banana and darker spices.. caramel and molasses provide more dark maltage.. leaves kind of a rye whiskey-laced caramel and chocolate impression with warmth. The flavor had toasted caramel, chocolate, and molasses at its core, surrounded by spicy pepper, rye, and banana yeasy esters.. the tacky back-end carried through a lot of spicage.. decently-blended and warm.. but not great. Syrupy, warm foray onto the palate with low carbonation throughout.. tacky on the back-end with some overt alcohol notes.. OK feel overall, and a decent brew. BREWMUSKCLES (754), WEEHAWKEN, New Jersey, USA Jan 8, 2008 WHAT A NICE BEER! rolls nicely into a glass (in its own time). looks real good (all dark caramel) in the glass. quickly dissapating head. banana fruit and quality sweetness with great body and drinkability. nice and yes robust maltiness it is substantial and complex. i get more plum than citrus as this bottle and it is from last year. unpasturised and -more healthful- with b vitamin and natural niacin enhancement. too many reasons not to rate this a 4. otter creek is one of -thee breweries- to brag about in the north east. DO NOT MISS OUT BEER LOVER! freekyp (792), Thomasville, North Carolina, USA Jan 2, 2008 There should be a warning on the label. Huge malty goodness within. Beware of addiction. Pouring a dark cloudy brown with a small tan head, Otterbahn cobines the heavy malt character of a bock with the tartness of a hefe to great effect. The finish is sweet and long with a nice tartness around the sides of the tongue. A lingering peaty character, not unlike a scotch ale plays a heavy role in the aftertaste. Hops are virtually nonexistent, and the yeast lends fruity aroma. Well crafted and definitely not run of the mill. Funknmilla (515), Absecon, New Jersey, USA Dec 5, 2007 From bottle to glass, looks like a darker brown pepsi...brown sugar head...---aroma---raisin and roasted malt, rich and roasted malt....---flavor---prunes and burnt caramel malts...medium body, the presence of clove (not flavor)...seems to add a bite to the finish....reminds me of a liquid gingersnap cookie...alcohol 8% huh?...can’t tell except in the buzz factor....sediment in glass also
