The smell is sweet a delicious caramel, malted milk, hop citrus, fruity raisins, and plums. The taste is dry, crisp, slightly watery. When a nose is so malty upfront I expect a sweeter beer but that is not the case here. Overall this is a solid pale ale very session worthy. I paired this beer with a rotisserie jerk chicken which really brought out the spiciness in the beer.

The aroma is sweet grapefruit and light pine. The flavor is tangy and has fairly strong grapefruit and pine elements. There is a dry malty finish. A solid if fairly basic pale ale. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 23, 2006 12 oz bottle. Amber beer, thick white head. Malty, pale ale malt, light earthy notes, a bit of caramel sweetness. Some definite hop aroma, both grapefruit and woody. Might be cascades, might be something else. Flavour is decent, with sweet caramel malt balanced by sweet citrusy hops. A bit sugary though. OK, but not spectacular. kingfiogojr (78), Baltimore, Maryland, USA

Very drinkable. Wayyyy better than the Wolaver’s organic version. (I didn’t realize Otter Creek brewed Wolaver’s beers too.) LadySusan (475), Ste-Therese, Quebec, Canada

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 28, 2006 The pale ale pours a light amber color with a small, fizzy white head. Hazy body with fair lacing. Aroma is of lemony hops, as well as peach and alcohol. Initial taste is lightly sweet and bitter, finishing moderately bitter. Light and dry on the mouth with fizzy carbonation. Chalky and alcoholic feel afterwards. Not the best pale ale we’ve had, but certainly not the worst. Very drinkable. Bottled on 10/3/05, so shelf life probably had another month or so.
