goldbrew (99), USA Jan 26, 2008 Received from a beer-of-month club. Maltier aroma poured into lager glass. Clearer filtered appearance compared to other Pale Ales such as Mirror Pond or Sierra Nevada. This is not a crisp, refreshing beer that I was expecting. Rather a murky malted dissonance with a feeble hop finish that felt quite unbalanced and left a lingering dark flavor. Funny as I’m seeing other reviews here that are polar opposite such as too hoppy vs too malty, but still not enjoying the beer. Perhaps it’s an inconsistent brew or storage issues. Disappointing. RedSox2004 (353), Pacific Palisades, California, USA Jan 25, 2008 Updated: Feb 24, 2008Beer club selection. Color was copper with a decent head and left good lacing.
Aroma was dominated by the citrusy hops.
Taste was more balanced than the aroma. Good hop bittering but not overdone.
Medium body with average carbonation.
Nice beer as part of a beer club, but I’m not going out to look for it. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA Jan 25, 2008 Clear dull garnet in color with little head. Toasted and caramel malt and cascade hop aroma. The first thing that hits in the favor is juicy cascade hops. This is balanced by decent enough malt. The body is good for the size of the beer. The bitterness seems a little high. Overall not a bad beer. Bungalo22 (326), Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA Jan 23, 2008 Pours copper and smells spicey and nice. The taste is watery and not much there for an after taste. Drinkable but not one of the best Pale Ale’s I’ve had or even close for that matter. johnnysmoke (53), Texas, USA Jan 20, 2008 Rec’d this beer as part of a beer club. I have to say it’s one of the better beers I’ve had so far, unfortunately that’s not a huge stretch. The beer has a decend aroma which goes stale in the nose pretty quick. It’s a very bitter beer with no sweetness to offset the hops. I’m not sure I’d look too hard for this one at the beer store. BEERGUY007 (206), Scotia, New York, USA Jan 18, 2008 12 ounce bottle from Glenville beverage. Pours a copper color with a nice white head that leaves almost no lace. a little yeast smell. Not a ton of flavor, some citrus. It’s ok. roder60 (1019), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 30, 2007 Pours a hazy orange color with foamy white head. Aroma is sweet malts a bit of yeast and a tiny amount of citris hops, but very faint. Flavor is light and watery and thin with slight citric hop flavor. Overall, poor apa. buckybeer (666), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA Nov 12, 2007 Pours medium copper with a small head. Aroma of malt, hops, citrus. Flavor is really sharp and crisp. Bitter and dry hops, tart citrus and mild caramel malts. This really hit the spot.
