3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bottle. Pours reddish copper, topped with a big frothy tan head, that fades to a thin cover. Aroma of honey, spice, oak, and white wine. Flavor starts with honey, floral hops, and is soon joined by earthy hops, tropical fruit, oak, and white grape. Alcohol becomes more noticeable in the finish. Finishes with oak, honey and warming alcohol. Medium to full bodied, and pretty drinkable.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
White wine aroma with a hint of oak. Honey and green grapes. Orange peel.
Appears honey orange, with lots of carbonations. Eggshell white head. Bubbly, very cloudy.
Flavor is more white wine grape. Oak-y with hints of citrus orange and grapefruit. A hint of Belgian yeast funk. Crisp German-esque malt, Kolsch-style; bready and buttery.
Champagne fizz on the palate, but thick and hearty. Smooth on the outside. A solid, smooth/challenging beer. Belgian funk + honey and citrus with white grapes.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bomber. Pours a deep ruby orange with a one-finger bubbly white head. Aromas of Belgian yeast, chardonnay, bubble gum, and sour grape juice; the smell is reminiscent of a Dubbel. Creamy, oily mouthfeel. Yeasty, sour, biting hops present initially, bitter and astringent in the middle, and ending with a sour alcohol and warming hop presence. Dry finish. Sweet, nearly cloying, and almost medicinal at times. I donít get any oak here, although there is some dirt/earth present in the finish. I would not have guessed this is a barleywine, it has neither the aromas nor the flavors of a typical beer of the style. This is pretty different, thereís a lot going on here.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 ounce bottle. This one has been in the fridge for quite a while, so Iím sure it has some age on it. Served in a snifter, the beer pours a reddish/amber color with about an inch light tan head. Head retention is good, and thereís a small amount of lacing. Thereís also some sediment floaties noticeable. It smells like dark fruit (raisins, grapes), caramel, oak, candy sugar and some apple. The taste is similar to the aroma, it tastes like grapes, raisins, oak, white wine, and caramel. Mouthfeel/body is medium, itís a bit creamy and has moderate carbonation. I liked this brew, but Iím thinking I probably should have drank this one sooner.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap @ Lures-Crownsville Md-Cloudy copper/brown pour w/no head. Deep fruit aroma. Flavors of dark fruit, grapes, a little vanilla, some sweetness & light oak. Reminded me more of a Belgian Strong than a Barley Wine. Very smooth & easy to drink w/no aging needed, unlike some Barley Wines which are a little rough/hot on tap. Alcohol was extremely well hidden, had no idea it was this high. Havenít always been a big fan of some stuff from this brewer, but this one was a winner.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a hazy shade of rust/burnt orange with a small white head. Aroma is definitely enticing to me with plenty of oak, toffee, peanut brittle, grape, champagne (that yeast jumps out), caramel, and pears. Flavor very malt-forward with caramel, toffee, toast, peanuts, wood, and vanilla with yeast and fruit qualities (pear, champagne, earth) entering the mix a little later. Finish dries things up significantly with plenty of oak, toast, earth, leaves and a light lingering toffee and caramel flavor. Thick and chewy mouthfeel, carbonation is lively and semi-prickly. Describing the mouthfeel on this is tricky cause the flavor seem rounded, but the texture is full of sharp contrasts. Kinda sticky too, but I do enjoy the rounded flavors. No doubt an interesting beer, and itís likeable enough if youíre into sweet beers.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured from bottle for review #200. Yeasty and fruity nose with a faint overtone of butter -- Iím guessing thatís the oak. Color is a hazy gold-orange with a pronounced fine-bubbled head. Multiple layers to the taste on this one; phenols, grain, toast, butter again, some stone fruit, and a faint finish of salted nuts. Mouthfeel is powerfully clean and a little overwhelming. It doesnít hide the alcohol very well, but is still a unique and interesting beer.
