HogTownHarry (3361), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada May 16, 2008 Bottle (22oz). Very deep ruby pour, clear, but dark enough to be hard to see through - large lasting foamy-creamy tan head (4-). Quite light aroma, not much alcohol on the nose, leafy and dry, with dry coffee roast and quite a dairy barn smell hovering around it. The taste follows, not as lactic, dry yeast still very roast caramel sweet, nice dry bitter aftertaste. Quite a light body, weakly carbonated, the malt body fades quickly and leaves a generic dry roast and only a hint of alcohol .... quite easy to drink, but a little vague.
BREWMUSKCLES (817), WEEHAWKEN, New Jersey, USA Nov 29, 2008 JUST a touch of sugar and good hops in this pleasant baltic porter. dark with nice moderate body and gravymaster soy sauce type malt and barley flavors with a bit of caraway seed. infused and busy it none the less is entertaining, satisfying and leaves one wanting more with its neatly dry finish. a bit chewy like the black bread that is described on the bottle. light brown head and slightly toasty it is barely fuity with cherry and -perhaps- a chocolate component. nice! after4ever (1925), Brier, Washington, USA Oct 27, 2008 22. Thanks, 46er3498! Pours black with bright garnet highlights. Thin tan rim. Mild roasty chocolate nose. Creamy medium body. Lots of chocolate on the mid-palate. Mild herbal finish. Not a hugely distinctive beer, but has a pretty nice mouthfeel. DougShoemaker (2619), Toronto, Canada Oct 1, 2008 Aroma is fine coffee and cocoa, dark brown, small toffee head. Full flavour of roast coffee, dark chocolate too, nutty. Medium bodied, pleasantly bitter, dry. Very good. Thanks Radek Kliber. Oakes (7030), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Sep 20, 2008 Dark golden-brown. Big aromatic chocolate malt with vague nuttiness. Fairly light body, only a little bit of brown sugar chewiness and light nuttiness. Finishes a little thin with some light stickiness. I like sea otters and I like baltic porter but this doesn’t do it for me. Beershine (1515), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Sep 20, 2008 Cherrywood/dark wood red-tinted brown, almost opaque but does catch light. Small, light barely there tan head. Rich coffee nose with chocolate, cocoa bean, some chalk, some soy. Really chocolately and coffee flavors. Silky mouthfeel. Nice, smooth, and creamy.
