One of the best aromas I have smelled from a beer in years.
Pours a deep orange. Notes of fruit here. Grains and grassy notes present.
Finish is of caramel, sweet malt, toasted bread,.
True to the Bock category.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jb (1809) - Rochester, New York, USA - MAY 17, 2013
This is a very underrated beer. Bocks don’t get much love around here. Rich malt aroma along with baked bread and caramel. Palate follows suit it is sweet with a nice ester profile. I really like this.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 alobar (2297) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 12, 2013

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 maxwelldeux (2209) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - MAY 10, 2013
Bottle. Pours a clear amber color with a smallish white head. Nose is very malt forward with a hint of caramel in there. Taste is similar, though some slight bit of toasting comes through at the end. Not too bad, but not great.
2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 mansquito (2492) - Nueva York, New York, USA - APR 4, 2013
New Beer Distributors, NY 355ml ($2): Pours a light amber with barely any head. Aroma is bubblegum and nondescript dark fruits. Taste is slightly sweet, uncomplex, and light. Leaves some bockish aftertaste. Pretty uninteresting, and I don’t know that I would reach for this sooner than I would for a pale lager.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 badwhale (296) - Bitterville, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 15, 2012
Bottle to glass shaker. Pours a hazy amber with sparse head, and good lacing. Pretty malty, and typical of a bock. Not bad. I should probably try one actually in the spring...
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Beerathon (586) - Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 25, 2012
Enjoyable malty sweetness. This one was aged for about 6 months, so the hops were muted, but the maltiness of this beer was solid. Liked it.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 FROTHINGSLOSH (3947) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 25, 2012
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy orange-copper color with a small foamy tan head that faded quickly and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was sweet caramel and light vegetal malts. The flavor was sour, tangy and vegetal with notes of caramel and dark fruits. Medium caramel and fruit finish. Moderately full bodied. Eh.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 9/20 emacgee (3430) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - SEP 30, 2012
Pours a cloudy amber gold with one finger of sandy tan head. The aroma is vegetal and bready. with an herbal and musty hop character. God awful flavor. Tastes like cat food (dry cat food), stale bread, and astringent tea leaves. Can’t go on.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Drake (6488) - Ivy, Virginia, USA - SEP 12, 2012
12 ounce bottle from State Line. Pours a slight hazy bronze color with a large frothy tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of toasted malts and faint hops. The taste is toasted malts, citrus hops. Medium bodied. Decent.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 kramer (3873) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 31, 2012
Bottle. Pours a clear dark gold body with a small fizzy white head that faded pretty quickly. The nose is slightly sweet with some soggy grains and just a light hint of hops. Flavor wise it’s a bit bland, some slight honey and bready malt sweetness without much backing from hops. Slightly sticky and lingering on the finish. It lacks any sense of crispness or heft to the body. Not terrible, but not something I’d ever seek out again.
