3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle: Dark brown/black color, light tan head and decent lacing. The nose is dry with some maple, vanilla, subtle chocolate and coffee notes. The flavor is balanced, a nice maple syrup sweetness with some nutty almond character pairs well with the subtle roasted character. The finish is pleasing and a bit smoky. Good porter.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle: Nice pitch black beer with a firm head and bountiful aroma of coffee, chocolate and maybe even cherries. After the awesome introduction, the flavor was a bit of a letdown, shallower than I’d hoped. A hint of smoke, roastiness. But mostly an easy drinker. Good, I guess, but I felt like I’d been made an unfulfilled promise.

damn easy to drink... has a nice headring... dark black, like a charcoal chunk like a nerf football in the hall closet .. simple ... no real roast qualities .. i could drink a sixer of this in 30 minutes then eat a whole italian cheese bread by myself, smoke a bowl, the pass out ... "peter, who peter?"

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from a 12oz bottle (thanks to Dave L from PA - drank Apr ’12) at room temperature into a snifter to an off black, dark chestnut brown colour with a thin tan head which soon reduced and dispersed to little more than a puddle atop the glass.
Lacing present above the beer line throughout drinking.
The aroma was non too powerful. A little roasted malt with a modicum of coffee and biscuit in the background.
A solid tasting porter dominated by roast malts and chocolate, the latter which I didn’t really pick up on the nose! A little tobacco and wood in the background and a sweetish malty finish.
The mouthfeel was just right for me, medium in body with a smooth finish and minimal carbonation. This beer invites you back for more with every sip and I only wished I had another bottle to crack open!
Overall a decent porter and certainly one I’d go for again. At room temperature from the off, this beer got better on each reviewing field, the aroma and appearance were ok, but the all important (to me) taste and palate were excellent!
Definately one to visit again!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
"Roasted" is the key word for this porter, in aroma, flavor, and palate. Deep brown with a slender tan head, roasted malts cover an underlying sweet aroma. Smooth to drink, the roast continues along with a touch of woody smokiness. Lightly bitter finish. Nice.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark brown color. Small white head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee and vanilla. A medium to lighter bodied Porter. Malts are chocolate and toffee. Hops are a little spicy. Nicely balanced. It perhaps a little thin tasting for a porter, but I’ve noticed this “fault” a lot lately. Is it a trend or a redefinition of style? Still it a nice very drinkable porter. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Bukowski’s Tavern in downtown Boston. Pours a dark brown color with some highlights around the edges and virtually no head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malts, chocolate, hops, and sour funk. That same unexpected funk shows up in the flavor, too, along with coffee, chocolate, and some earthy hops and herbal notes. Weird sourness, not as well done as, say, the NG Unplugged Old English Porter, with its tart/sour notes. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a sour, funky, and roasty finish. Odd porter.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured a dark chestnut color with a medium sized tan head and left nice lacing on the glass. Roasted coffee, chocolate, and lightly hopped aroma. Very strong coffee flavor, minimal hop character, though a watery palate.
