Otter Creek’s Twentieth Anniversary Ale is a homage to our long-running flagship… Copper Ale. With four times the malts and hops, the traditional flavor is a bigger, bolder and more complex ale that can be savored for years to come. It features a blend of six malts with German & American hops and is a celebration of Otter Creek’s 20 years of craft brewed ales in Middlebury, Vermont

Pours a clear dark reddish brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma of cherries and honey with a touch of syrup. Taste is rich with sweet flavors of Carmel and honey. Slight taste of bitter mixed with the alcohol at the finish. The Carmel notes linger well after the taste is done.

Bottle. Deep crimson with a moderate head of off-brown foam. Drinks with a delicious cacophony of flavors -- sweet tropical fruit, rich malt, caramel, and light alcohol. Exceptionally well balanced, and pleasant to sip. (#4434, 1/7/2012)

A nice copper ale that has a bold, complex malty taste. A bit chewy but would never guess its 12%

Sampled (several times) at Siptemberfest 2011 - Pours a darkish amber in color with a small off-white head that settles to a thin covering over the beer. Aroma is malty with brown sugar, molasses and piney hops mixed in. Flavor is slightly sweet, initially, but the citrus and pine hops provide a very nice balance mid-swill. Finish is a decent mix of sweetish malts and hop bitterness that lingers on... The "best of show" for the festival...

12oz bottle scored in Manhattan at New Beer Distributors. A fun beer, rich malts all over this but with some creamy hop moments. Rich medium bodied beer with huge fruit notes of apricot and pears. Nothing is quite right but it remains a formitable beer in this style, The flavors are really all there

Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm. Very dark brown beer with a small but lasting beige head. Malty fruity aroma, hazelnuts, caramel, raisins, prunes, chocolate, toffee, dades, roasted, chocolate, marcipan, cream, pears and grapes. Fruity flavor, dades, raisins, hazelnuts, hoppy bitterness, caramel, citrus, earthy, floral, toffee, some warming alcohol. Long nutty finish with marcipan, toffee, caramel, grapes and some earthy notes. Really good!

12oz bottle (bottled-on date appears to be "101411"). Hazy dark red color, a bit of khaki head fading to minimal. Leaves a bit of lace. The body is incredibly smooth and creamy, very light carbonation. Less alcohol taste than I expected this 12% brew to have, but a bit of the expected wine-like warmth after each sip. Aroma is some chocolate, and dark fruit. Nice sweetness here. A great, big brew. I would buy another couple bottles of these to age if my cellar actually had any more space.

Oh, so pleasantly surprised! Had zero expectations of this and absolutely loved the gooey caramel, wrinkly raisin, toasted nuts, molasses, and malt. Also get a little wood and vanilla. Very rich and would never come close to guessing the 12% ABV. Where has this been all my life? If you find it...buy it! Lots of it!

It pours a darker amber with an OK head that settles to a ring. The aroma is quite powerful with its malty character, plum, Otter Creek’s own yeast, and maybe raisins. But for a 12% ABV there is no boozy aroma in site. The body is quite good falling into the medium-heavy range with a type of acidity that I can’t quite explain. But it is not problematic. The taste is moderately bitter with a powerful hop bite at the end. Still, almost no alcohol on the taste buds. I have to say that this is a beer that cherishes its maker’s 20th anniversary.

Do not understand the ratings on this beer. Tastes like a smoother, better balanced "Backwoods Bastard." It is a bit flat and doesn’t have a great appearance but I find it very tasty. I would classify it as a barleywine.
