Tap. Pours clear, pale yellow/gold with creamy white head. Aroma is straw and wheat malts, corn, light grassy and herb notes, and faint orange peel. Flavor is dry malts, grassy bitterness, and some straw; dry finish. Light body and low carbonation.

Metallic grainy malt aroma. Hazy yellow color. Dried out, fruity malt taste. Kind of wooden, but not in an aged kind of way. Recalls the Sierra Nevada Summerfest, specifically that it’s a light lager from a heavy ale brewer.

On tap at a dive bar in Brattleboro, VT. Golden body with large head. Nose is quite sweet. Taste is malty and somewhat metallic. Wasn’t too impressed at all. Turned me off.

The aroma is very faint yet consists of cereal, hay, and leaves. The appearance is a golden with hints of orange. The flavor is light in sweetness, lightly bitter, and somewhat strange.

So basically, this beer does not look like much. It pours a pretty boring color, with a rather mediocre head. Then the aroma ain’t much either. But the taste, I thought was rather good. Yeasty all up the front, with a few hoppy bites along the way. Overall, it is really damn refreshing after skiing for a while. Frankly, I think the 19th percentile rating is a severe under-rating (premium lager is of course not the best style out there, but this is one of the style’s better points).

Odyn (265) - New York, USA - NOV 16, 2009
Basic gold color and a sweet malty aroma (like corn flakes). Decent flavor with a little bit of a harshness that swims upstream compared with the rest of the beer. Not as drinkable as some of the cheaper ones out there and not as complex as the higher end ones either. This is sort of all over the board.

12 ounce bottle - $1.79 at Hop City in Atlanta, Georgia. Appearance: Pours a clear, deep hued golden body with a foamy, lasting, white head. Smell: Simple, sweetish malted barley with some spicy, lemony hops. There’s a caustic, pungent note present that, like a crusty scab, I can’t help but pick at. It’s kind of vomitesque. I asked for the Vermont Lager, not the Vomit Lager. Good grief. Taste: Light pale maltiness with a minimal amount of sweetness. Hints of lemon and spice from the hops as well as a modest amount of bitterness. Curious acidity and some unpleasant off-tastes plow through the taste and lasts into the "where’s my glass of water" finish. Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: Gack!

Pours gold with a white head. Smells of sweet malt and perfumy. Taste yields some sweet malt, some fruity hints and a crisp, grassy finish.
