3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Beesbeer (349) - WALES - JAN 20, 2013
It has to be the quality of the water filtered down through sandstone that gives this beer such a great crystal clean flavour. Chocolate bitter sweetness and barley wine warmth and depth. Quite a sharp green hop citrus ending that lingers on the palate. Quick to make you squiffy!

Copper-brown in colour with a strong aftertaste, although the strength is hidden somewhat by the fruity sweet flavours which are also evident in its aroma.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 AshtonMcCobb (1452) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - MAY 26, 2012
50cl bottle. Pours a lovely amber with gentle bubbles and a nicely proportioned head some of which remains. The nose has raisins and flour. The taste has flour and toffee this time and chocolate biscuits on the finish. The palate is rich but very tight, then a compact middle section which continues into a long dry finish. Overall, a nice strong bitter.

Bottled 06/05/12. A russet coloured beer with an off-white ring of head. A fruity aroma with sweet and slightly sugary notes. Predominantly malty but the hops are there too and give good fruitiness. A nice long finish. Boozy and tasty.8

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 tombyars (1204) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - FEB 22, 2012
First tasted this at the Paisley Beer Festival in May 1995. Cask, gravity dispense. Clear mahogany in colour with a thin white head. Crisp green apples noted in the short aroma. Thin but resiny mouthfeel and poor lacing. Pale malts give a robust digestive biscuit base laden with syrupy sultanas, raisins, dates and maple syrup flavours sweet in the palate. Hop resins give a spicy note to the long dry aftertaste. Malt returns with chocolate orange notes full in the mouth, drier currants and oak cask flavours in at the end. Now this is a ESB and highly recommended.
