500ml Bottle from Jungle Jim’s. Poured hazy dark amber with medium white head that diminished slowly with fair lacing. Medium aroma of fruity, malt and yeast. Medium body. Good flavor of sweet malt and medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Above average bitter.

Bottled, 500ml from Phoenix Wines, Swanage, Dorset. Murky brown with slight head. Not the best looking beer ever, but the flavour overcomes the looks, just. Fruity malts with an apple, plum character, a touch of coffee ground and a general sweetness carrying in to a powdery hop. Reasonable.

Cask at The Royal Oak, Lyndhurst-Bank : Amber coloured, nearly no head; vinous fruity nose, some traces of liquorice and alcohol; sweetish-fruity start; sweetish flavour; ending in a bitter-aromatic and sweet finish; a warming, pretty full-bodied and well-rounded brew !

I can’t beleive I rated from Mary’s half-empty glass, but I did. Amber beer, white head. Sweet and malty aroma with a very crackery and toasty character. Earthy aroma but with a very low hop rate. Flavour is quite sweet and it doesn’t really have much in the way of balance. Very British malt character but it still seems a bit disjointed to me.

Bottled 06/05/12. A russet coloured beer with an off-white ring of head. A fruity aroma with sweet and slightly sugary notes. Predominantly malty but the hops are there too and give good fruitiness. A nice long finish. Boozy and tasty.8

Bottle. Rich red, little to no head. Slightly chocolatey malty aroma. Taste matches - slightly yeasty hint but then there’s a great chocolatey malt blast. Long bitter finish too. Good strong ale.

A Mes rate: 50cl bottle from Waitrose. Yum. This is really quite good. Butterscotch and sticky toffee with a hint of vanilla and then some hops in the nose. Very brown coloured body with just a wisp of an off white head which leaves a little lacing. Gentle and sweet malts with some caramel and a very pleasant hoppy finish with just a lick of alchohol and gradually growing sweeter as it lingers. Very nice indeed. The more I drink of this the better it gets. Had to get this rate in quick as this stuff is a sinker. Very pleasantly surprised.

Bottle. Hazy amber with a small head. Aromas are toffee malts with chocolate and earthy hops. Sticky sweet and fruity but not cloying. Flavour are sweet toffee and caramel malts with Autumn fruit. Soft in flavour but everything is well balanced. A good ESB.

Sammy (7034) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 3, 2007
Light-golden body with lace and a bit of foam. Faint smell hops. A fresh ale, as if it was tapped a day ago, of understated and malted hoppy ale, not too bitter. Above average carbonation for a UK produced ale. Very drinkable, medium mouthfeel. Citrus and lightly grapefruity.
