bottle. Copper colour, creamy head. Quite hoppy, pleasantly bitter, rounded by malt. Full-bodied. Hints of orange zest, actually the orange flavour reminds me of typical English orange marmelade.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Off-white head. Hazy amber body. Fruity malt aroma. Caramel and sweet berries and the end a bit of bitterness suiting the beer very well.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A Mes rate:
50cl bottle from Waitrose. Yum. This is really quite good. Butterscotch and sticky toffee with a hint of vanilla and then some hops in the nose. Very brown coloured body with just a wisp of an off white head which leaves a little lacing. Gentle and sweet malts with some caramel and a very pleasant hoppy finish with just a lick of alchohol and gradually growing sweeter as it lingers. Very nice indeed. The more I drink of this the better it gets. Had to get this rate in quick as this stuff is a sinker. Very pleasantly surprised.

(Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm, 16 Nov 2007) Dark reddish brown colour with frothy beige head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of dried fruit, orange peel and earthy hops. Malty taste with dried fruit, citrus and earthy hops. Slightly above medium body. A good deal of malt sweetness shining through with a warming whiff of alcohol in the finish. Nice beer.

Cask-conditioned at the Bag O’Nails, Bristol 17/1/08. Orange coloured with a decent, off-white head. Caramel and red fruit aroma with some earthy hops. Full mouth feel with more malt and a long bitter finish. Very enjoyable.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Small white coarse head. Hazy orange-red body with light carbonation. Oily caramel and perfume aroma. Roasty caramel taste with resiny notes. Oily, dead mouthfeel. Vague, resiny aftertaste. It’s OK, but boring. (0.5l bottle.)

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle (500ml) shared with HogTownHarry & tupalev -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a hazy orange-amber with a spare diminishing bubbly white head. Aroma of caramel malt, fruit, some sweet candy and hops. Flavour of caramel malt, lightly burnt or toasty with some sweet fruit and a mild but decent bitter finish. Average bodied. Flavour’s better then the aroma suggests, all in all it’s not bad.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle (500ml). Shared with blankboy and tupalev, my bottle. Cloudy ruby-amber with a small frothy wisp of head. Light, dry, herbal aroma, raisins and light cherry - odd (6-). Taste is dry, herbal bitter, light sweet malt, roasty, vague dry cocoa in the finish. Watery, thin body, solid dry astringency, the malt finishes quickly, dry spicy yeast lingers for quite a while. The taste really saves this one, the mouthfeel and aroma aren’t that solid.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Lightly hazy dark copper pour covered by an irregular and small white head. Sandy and lightly earthy nose with a pleasantly minty hop twist that contrast with the toasty and biscuity malts whose sweetness escapes the hops’ radar. Medium bodied, moderately high carbonation. Good.
