UPDATED: JAN 3, 2007 Had an Otter Head recently on a trip to London and was very impressed to say the least. Brewed using local spring water from the Otter River. This ruddy colored, smooth, medium bodied beer uses a wonderful toffee flavored malt. It has a real Maris Otter malty taste up front followed by a delightful hoppy bitterness that keeps you coming back for more. I’d love to see more of this one!

Bottle. Bright amber with a cream head. Sweet and fruity with some pear drop notes. A somewhat bitter finish. Full flavoured and good.

BlackHaddock (3479) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 25, 2014
Half-pint at the 2014 Lincoln Beer Festival. Good looking dark, deep brown beer with a full white crown on top. Malty from the start, this is a fruity, wholesome brew that oozes flavour. The hops keep the maltiness in check to produce a lovely blend that is easy to drink, mildly bitter towards the finish.

Bottle pours coppery amber with light beige full head that laces. Aroma is rich, caramel, dark fruit maybe a hint of yeast. Fruity sweet start with a counterbalance light bitterness to finish and linger. Some pleasant alcohol warmth . Full palate. Medium carbonation. A good beer.

Beesbeer (452) - WALES - JAN 20, 2013
It has to be the quality of the water filtered down through sandstone that gives this beer such a great crystal clean flavour. Chocolate bitter sweetness and barley wine warmth and depth. Quite a sharp green hop citrus ending that lingers on the palate. Quick to make you squiffy!

Pours like a brewed ice tea, complete with tea-ish head. Scent is caramel, pepper, dark fruit. Taste is very bready and dry... Sweet front, bitter back. A very good ale.

Cask in a pub opposite Exeter Cathedral whose name I forget. Full-bodied for the style and quite sweet, with hints of bread, raisin and orange coming through. Nice bitter.

Copper-brown in colour with a strong aftertaste, although the strength is hidden somewhat by the fruity sweet flavours which are also evident in its aroma.
