16th April 2010. Clear brown beer. Light semi soft and semi dry palate. Mild tangy fruit - orange and subtle plum underpins a little mild toasty malt. Easy drinking and inoffensive.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cask handpull at Westgate, JDW, Mass Spoon Rating. Very dark brown with a thin dark beige head. Ok, that is a good mild. Very good dark malts, not overly roasty, more of a dark fruity mild. Lovely roasty aroma, then some really good berry fruits in the mouth and then a juicy fruity finish. Man this is good. Shows you donít have to go extreme to make a really good beer. Loved it. The juiciness is outstanding. Black cherry mostly. Bit of blackberry.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Cask conditioned at The Grapes, Oxford. Black with tan head, ruby hue. This could well be the best lower ABV mild I have had. Beautifully balanced between a rich fruity malt with a summer fruit character and a good level of hop for a little bite. Wow was all we could say when we first set into our pints. Iím so glad I had this in great condition, fantastic stuff Otter.

UPDATED: APR 25, 2011 Cask conditioned handpump High Cross Leicester. A dark mahogany coloured beer with an off-white head and lacing. A smoky, roasty, slightly fruity aroma leads to a similar mouthfeel but with especially good smokiness. A good balanced tasty mild. Score 3.6
Subsequent ratings scored 3.6 and 2.7. Average becomes 3.3

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cask handpull, SIBA Champions Fest 2011, The Canalhouse, Nottingham. Pale chestnut with copper edges and a slim ivory collar. Very milky mocha and toasted wholemeal aroma, with some jammy hedgerow fruit. Mouth a lovely rounded coffee-meets-raisin type-thing, dusting with chocolate. Some really good, Germanic malt fullness. Can easily see why this is rated so highly.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A Mes rate. Cask at Baker Street íSporks.Dark mahogany but more brown than black and a very good off white head and lace. Plenty of condition in it. This is a bloody excellent mild. Light and fruity on the nose. Really good in the mouth. Hints of coffee and chocolate, roasty and toasty but itís all just... erm... mild. Faint tartness and mineral notes that remind me of Harveyís Sussex and thatís nothing to complain about at all. Good earthy malt finish with something slightly herbal in it too. This is a little peach if you ask me. Throughly accessible, effotlessly drinkable and does everything it should do. Took me all of five minutes to down it. I didnít mean to, I just suddenly realised it was gone. Excellent stuff.
