Hopheads rejoice! This strong IPA takes the style to a new level. It’s a big Imperial IPA packed with Nugget, Palisade, and Amarillo hops. Previously 8.2%.

Bottle to glass mug. Pours a cloudy yellow with sparse head. Great mouthfeel with malt backbone and lots of hop notes

Growler poured into a trappist glass produced an amber body with thick tan head. This is one of the best IPAs I’ve tasted. Smooth with flavors of pineapple and orange with a nice hoppy finish. Very well balanced and very enjoyable.

Bomber. Clear, golden-orange body. Big fruit aroma of citrus, peach and mango. Punchy citric hop flavor and rich crystal malt. Medium-full body, average carbonation and a bitter finish. Pretty sticky and resinous with a lingering hop finish. Overall a pretty run of the mill IIPA that falls victim to the "bigger is better" that plagues the style. Taking this beer down a notch or two in gravity would probably improve it.

Subtle aroma for a big IPA. Some floral notes. Copper color with white head. Nice big hoppy wallop with bitterness on the palate. Decent IPA

An Ottos staple, this is fantastic. The ABV is high, but the actual hop bitterness isn’t quite where I expected. Still, the flavor is a mix of citrus and greens, and it’s delicious. A must-have.

On draft: Awesome hoppy beer, pours dark golden with adequate lacing. Intense citrus hop flavor is to the forefront with a modest malt sweetness. Not quite balanced right but I found myself going back for more till I was seeing double (D’s).

Deep amber pour. Very clear with a small tan head. Aroma of citrus and pine. Super smooth, dry, bitter, Very west coast. Excellent brew. Got a bottle from the wholesale rep at PAFlavorfest in Harrisburg.

A nice, highly hopped double IPA. Appearance/palate thin for a double IPA. Alcohol presence is a bit over-the-top, but it is a double IPA, so what do I expect? There are other IPA competitors out there who can top this for flavor, but if I had it on a deserted island I would not turn away from the Double D (or maybe 2 for balance).

Pours a light yellow color – slightly cloudy with a below average head, and below average lacing and slightly under carbonated. Smells strong citrusy floral hops with not much malt aroma coming through. First taste is extremely hoppy and bitter. Finishes with a lovely bitter after taste. A good DIPA.

What appears to be a super fresh bottle directly from the brewery courtesy of my boy C.D. Aroma is an earthy floral hop that goes from alcoholic flower petals to damp morning dew on the earth. Really great smallish carbonation lifts away an astringent bitterness that would otherwise be overwhelming. There is a fruitiness here that is reminiscent of unripened mango in the middle and finishes with a lemon/lime twist of acidic bitterness. Would be great with just a touch of sweetness somewhere. A nice beer, glad I got to try it. Thanks Otto’s. 2011 22oz.
