Storm (2685), Amager, Denmark Mar 9, 2008 Bottle. Very dark, allmost black colour with a little head. Aroma of dark chocolate, alcohol, sugar and vanilla. Smooth flavour of chocolate, roastedness and very much noteable of alcohol. jarspag (593), Los Angeles, California, USA Mar 4, 2008 3rd Annual Woodshop Tasting, 3/1/08. Thanks Chris! I was pretty into the flavor - smokey malts, rich dark chocolate, bitter hops . . . palate was nice too. Aroma was pretty nonexistent though when faced up with the flavors. Pretty good. hapjydeuce (763), Del Mar, California, USA Mar 3, 2008 Bottled, sampled at cquiroga’s 3rd Annual Woodshop Tasting, 3/1/08. Deep brown color with lighter edges and thin brown rings. Some carbonation and an aroma of charred wood and lots of coffee / espresso. Similar coffee aroma with blackened bread and a bit of an acidic finish. Average bitterness with a medium body that finishes with a lot of smoke. Not bad. DenverLogan (421), MileHi, Colorado, USA Mar 1, 2008 Dark brown; brown head. Rich, burnt malts, toasty malts, slight chalk. Some notes are not right...alcohol, funky but not super. Pailhead (2572), Allen Park, Michigan, USA Feb 23, 2008 Updated: Mar 23, 2008Courtesy of Styles
Bottle: The aroma consists of chocolate, roasted malts, smoke, plums, alcohol, and faint coffee. It pours a dark brown, virtually black with a small tan head. The flavor starts with moderate chocolate and roasted malt. There’s some hints of plum in the background. Lots of smoke in the finish really blends well. There’s also some light coffee, licorice, grapefruit hops, and alcohol in the finish as well. There is a slight warming affect...tastes bigger than 9%. I really like the smoky character. Full bodied with an oily mouth feel and mild carbonation. iride15 (169), Orlando, Florida, USA Feb 19, 2008 Great dark beer with a thick, dark head. Really strong, but great to enjoy with time. Ottos does their beers right, and this is another example of a good brew. glkaiser (1150), Seattle, Washington, USA Feb 15, 2008 Dark black with very thin brown head. Lots of chocolate cookies in the aroma. Taste follows suit with more of a deep, roasted malt kick with a mild sweetness. Bitter finish balances perfectly. Thick and smooth. Another good imperial stout. BeerandBlues2 (3201), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Feb 15, 2008 22-oz bottle received via trade with mj. Pours opaque with an average, fizzy, light brown head, lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, coffee, nutty), light hops (perfume, grass), average yeast (leather) with notes of alcohol and smoke. Medium bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a bitter finish. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.
