Commercial Description:
Jolly Roger himself smoked the malt for this Imperial Stout. This is a massive stout with a huge roasted maltiness and complex smoky, chocolate flavors coming through strong thanks to the gentle handpump and correct cellar temperature.

Blind Tasting Toasty malt aroma, with burnt dark chocolate, slight coffee, hints of red fruits. Dark pour with a mocha head. Bitter chocolate, red fruits, buttery with a dead aftertaste...like cheap tequila. Good overall, toasty bitter palate.

Aroma was somewhat delicate, raosted malting and bakers chocolate floating up,but you really had to concentrate,an Imperial stout should be a little more assertive, roasted malts really come out in flavor and dominate, creamy chocolate and cocoajust a little sweetness, and a slightly bitter finish from the hops and roasted and smoked malts. Very pleasant smoothness ,like there was oats added to this, mildly timid ,but satisfying IS,thaks Kingpin

Bottle thanks to John. Dark brown pour with smaller head than expected. Lots of chocoloate and nuttiness... overall, lighter on the tastebuds and palate than expected. Decent, but did not blow me away.

Bottle from Miver. Pours a dark brown with a nice tan head with good lace. Nose has a lot of chocolate, nuttiness, roasted coffee beans, and hops. Very earthy chocolate, hazelnut, mild smoke. Bitter hops in the finish. A very solid imperial stout, but I bet this is better on draft or cask.

Brewed in the USA..... Pours a very nice black color with a large lasting tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate, molasses, and dark malts. Taste of chocolate, malts, hops, and a hint of licorice. Mouthfeel is chalky with some alcohol warmth. Robust with some nice lacing. Overall, I would say this is pretty good but a bit on the thin side.

22oz bottle graciously shared by BeerGestapo. Thanks Mike. Pours black with a semi-lasting 1 inch tan head. At first sniff all I could smell was an earthy smokiness but after my nose got acclimated to it I noticed hints of bitter chocolate, dark fruit, and a hint of booziness. The taste is smoky, dark chocolate, and burnt cookies. The smoke is a bit much in my opinion. After a few sips it turns slightly acrid from it. Finishes with a lasting roasted bitterness. Though it has a nice full body I felt that there was too much carbonation for the style. It pinpricked its way through the massive oily liquid. I did enjoy it however and would recommend fans of the style to try it.
