An American pale ale brewed with Centennial hops and hopbacked with Cascade, it's a real refresher that has a spicy, citrus aroma and a slightly nutty malt flavor.

Bottle   Dull amber, deep, burnt caramel hues, large frothy off-white head, sticky lacing.   Soft caramel, tea leaves, and musty citrus on the nose.   Smells like a really aged Barley Wine.   I have had this for a while, so it could be that its mellowed out from what it was.   Soft malt base, pale hop bite, tea leaves, with some of the caramel and musty citrus comes through on the tongue.   This is really smooth, mellow, and tasty.   I think it probably lost some of its hop zing, but as is it held up very well!   Moderate to full body and mouthfeel.   Not a lot of bite, but its smooth and easy to put back.   I really enjoyed this one.

11 Oct 2011, bottle. light orange, clear, steady bubbles, huge foamy head. it’s hard to pour a pint because it foams up so much, so fast. there is a nice lemony hop nose. med body and faintly fizzy. really a mild pale ale. there is a mild orange juice and maybe some lemon peel zing. okay.

Bottle. Another bottle found while doing some cellar tidying, and another bottle that probably shouldn’t be this old, probably about a year on it. Whoops. Pours a clear orange amber with a medium sized beige head. Still some hop aroma on this one, soft caramel and malt. Medium bodied, a bit of age shows up early, malt. Thins out a bit, picks up some more malt notes and a touch of bitterness on the finish. Not bad, especially for a more than year old pale ale.

Serving: 12 oz. bottle from the good Mr. Zook. Thanks Gabe! It pours a light amber orange with a small, frothy off white head. The nose is pine needles, slightly fruity malt, and some toasted undertones. There is a touch of pine on the hops side mixed with nice toasted and cracker notes. Crisp and rather dry on the back end. Nice. Light to medium body with a dry toasted finish. This one comes across as something unique and is definitely worth a try.

Faint floral notes on the nose. Pours a beautiful ruby tinged golden. Big hop notes on the tongue. I can’t say I’m getting the faint nuttiness but I like hops so I’m happy. Aerating it brings out even more hop notes. My favorite ottos so far.

22 oz bottle. Pours a clear copper body with a frothy one finger light beige head that had pretty decent retention. Nice fresh citrusy hop nose, just the right hopping level for a Pale Ale, bright and delicate. The flavor has a nice level of bitterness and a restrained toasty maltiness. Easy drinking and great in it’s simplicity. Light to medium bodied with moderate fizzy carbonation. I like this bottle quite a bit more than the previous ones I’ve had. Nice work Otto’s.
