Tap. Pours clear brown with a small, fizzy off-white head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is caramel and nutty malt, dark fruity esters and a clean lager character. Flavor is malt dominant, cinnamon and nutmeg notes, light hops and bitterness with a sweet finish. Medium-full body, medium warmth and carbonation.

On tap at brewpub. Very dark brown, almost black. Aroma is caramel. Flavor is caramel and chocolate with hints of dark fruit. Nice doppelbock, and much better than I remember from 2-3 years ago.

The aroma is of sweet malts. Taste is also sweet malts and roasty with mild bitterness. Dark red in appearance. Overall a nice, full winter brew.

From Growler. Pours a clear, dark, amber-brown color with ruby highlights. Topped with a creamy off-white small head that dissipates quickly and leaves very little lacing. Aroma is a nice maltiness and faint alcohol. Flavor is a malty sweetness with a slight toastiness and some dark fruit. Medium bodied. Very smooth.

Darker brown with a sweet aroma of raisin, dark bread, brown sugar, and light spice. Flavor is big and sugary with lots of brown sugar, plums, raisins, and assorted dark fruits with more hops than usual for a Doppelbock. Good stuff.

[Draft @ Capones] Poured a dark brown color with a thin light tan head that left no lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, dark fruits, and light cocoa. Taste of more roasted malts, sweet chocolate, molasses, raisins, and light alcohol in the finish.
