4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Snoop59 (104) - Penn Run, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 2, 2008
Growler. Pours a deep amber color with a foamy off-white head that lasts throughout. Leaves incredible lacing on the glass. Aroma is citrus and pine. Taste is grapefruit bitterness balanced by a light toffee-like sweetness. The bitterness carries through to a long finish that begs for another sip. This is one tasty IPA.
3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 egajdzis (4896) - Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 26, 2008
Poured a lightly hazy, amber color with a small, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops, dank herb, amarillo, pine, toast, and some caramel as well. Taste of pine, citrus fruits, light toffee, grass, and a raw, grapefruit bitterness in the finish. Pretty freakin hoppy.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 3fourths (6941) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - OCT 24, 2008
UPDATED: APR 1, 2009 mostly clear deep amber body. Big, wet nose of caramel cherry malt, sticky cedar scented hops, disjointed and a bit messy. Big full and chewy crystal malt, some wet hop qualities, greenness, but not really that fresh or fruity, more like veggies (celery). Okay overall, but messy, and comes across as a hoppy red ale.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 dpjuart (974) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 17, 2008
10/7/08 - Draft at brewpub. Pours orange amber with foamy, off-white head, good lacing. Nose is pine and citrus hops with a good dose of caramel and toffee. Taste is moderately bitter to rather bitter with a good toffee and caramel background and lots of hop flavor, grapefruit, pine, floral notes, all towards the end with bitter and perfumy notes lingering well into the after. A great replacement/hold over until DD’s can return. Heck, I hope they keep this on the menu, too.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 FROTHINGSLOSH (3977) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 4, 2008
Sampled on draft this beer poured a ruby caramel color with a large khaki head. The aroma was fruity, floral and lightly piney hops. The flavor was bitter, tart, fruity and piney with a floral hop undertone and light sweet malts. The finish is short and hoppy. Nice.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 Miver (609) - Silver Spring, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 30, 2008
On draft at brewpub. Poured copper in color with a nice beige head that left great lacing on the glass. Aroma of mostly floral hops with some pine, citrus, and some underlying sweet malt. Tastes of caramel malt base with piney, resiny sticky hop mouth feel, light citrus, and finishes with a nice hop bittering. I really really liked this one. It was my highlight at otto’s for sure.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 auerbrau (2952) - Peace Dale, Rhode Island, USA - SEP 25, 2008
UPDATED: SEP 3, 2009 On tap at the brewpub. Flickr(http://www.flickr.com/photos/26049401@N0 Raging floral and pine nose. Really fresh-scented, rich and pungent. Flowery. Bouquet-heavy. Amazing. Pours a coppery gold, with a tall finger of sparse white head. Flavor is equally rich and dense with strong bergamot, jasmine, sandalwood and orchid. A bit of spice and some light malt blends. Relatively dry for the style, with a minimal yeast and alcohol presence. Deft balance. Finish is tersely bitter and maybe a bit heavy, even for the style, but it creates a lot of complex as you move through the beer. Drinkable, nuanced, richly flavored and fresh.
