3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Otts Pours a clear copper with a small white head. The head is gone fairly quickly. Has a very well mixed aroma of hops and malts with the hops just winning out. It is very well blended. Has a solid mouthfeel and good carbination. Packs a decent hoppiness and a good dry finish. On the light side of medium body for me but this is a good beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
From a growler shared by TheCaptain. Thanks Mark. Served in a shaker glass. Clear amber pour with two inches of creamy off-white head. Smells sweet and piney with some fresh citrus zest floating about. The flavor is mostly of fresh citrus with a bit of pine and mango. It is really bursting with hop flavor but doesn’t have a ton of bitterness. Dangerously drinkable. Excellent.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber, from that unbelievable Beer Pimp, Brian. Poured a deep red amber with a small sudsy white lace. Nose has a lot of perfume and floral notes with some tropical and citrus fruits going on. Nice apricot-grapefruit hop taste, with just a mild astringent bitter finish. The hops are more tasty than bitter. The after is lightly dry, with a nutty bitter character and mild sweetness. Overall flavour has a well balanced tropical fruit, yet hop bitterness. Well made beer.

22 oz bottle. Pours dark amber with thin, foamy, white head and some carbonation. Aroma is of bready malt, citrusy hops, caramel and ripe fruit. Body is full, chewy and tangy. Citrusy hops, caramel malt and ripe fruit fill the mouth. Finish is long, grapefruity. Nice, tasty, balanced IPA.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Enjoyed from a 22oz bomber in an English pint glass. The nose shows a pleasant malt character, along with a tea-like herbal note. However, it shows age, and lacks the hop presence one would expect from an American-style IPA. The palate is malt-forward, again showing a very pleasant complexity, reminiscent of a very high-quality Vienna lager. Munich comes through, especially. Carbonation is nicely calibrated. The finish is lightly malty and clean. Overall, it would be great to try the beer fresh, but a nice effort, even after a far longer time than the brewer likely intended.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
On draft at brewpub. Poured copper in color with a nice beige head that left great lacing on the glass. Aroma of mostly floral hops with some pine, citrus, and some underlying sweet malt. Tastes of caramel malt base with piney, resiny sticky hop mouth feel, light citrus, and finishes with a nice hop bittering. I really really liked this one. It was my highlight at otto’s for sure.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
DATE REVIEWED: August 7, 2014... GLASSWARE: Hop Devil nonick... OCCASION: enjoying a nice haul from our State College weekend...APPEARANCE: clear, red amber body that streams a steady effervescence; dirty white head settles from a solid finger to a creamy resilience flaring with sunbursts of lacing--great to look at... AROMA: brilliant botanical array of lilac, carnations and grass; secondary scents of spices such as allspice and nutmeg--invitingly complex... PALATE: mellow, medium-bodied and drinkably relaxed; a thin yet consistent aftertaste holds to the back of the throat; creamy, if anything... TASTE: a solidly established pale ale, though not big enough for the India moniker--well-rounded, perhaps, by the soft, sweet malts that balance every sip; the malts--creamy, buttery--escort blunted hops along the journey, with a sessionable invitation... OVERALL: although a pleasant sipping beer, I find it tough to call this IPA anything beyond above average, as so many breweries are setting thee bar so high in this style...still, tough to slam a beer that is aesthetically pleasing and delivers on its promise with enough balance to convince--albeit temporarily--that the overhopped IPA is not the way to go ....
