JoeinUccle (658), Brussels, Belgium Mar 15, 2008 Strong, sweet, relatively simple blonde ale. Affiliated with the excellent Oud Beersel brewery, which makes this one a head-scratcher. Pours bright golden with a big, frothy, white head. Nose of oranges, candy, yeast. Very sweet flavor with mild bitterness, some alcohol showing through, lively carbonation. Cloying. Unfortunate. I wish they were promoting their lambics half as hard as they’re pushing this one around town.
DruncanVeasey (1612), Burbage, Leicestershire, England Aug 17, 2008 Bottle from The Criterion, Leicester. Cakey sweet barley wine-like aroma heavy with marzipan booziness but light with lemon, yeast, grass, hops and banana esters. Witbier mistiness lacy with fine white froth. Alcohol a little aggressive flavour-wise, melting into almond and lemon smoothness, banana and peardrop. A nibble of hop/alcohol bitterness on the end. Pretty slick, sweetly fruity tripel with touches of barley wine richness. Not bad. sebletitje (242), Tampa, Florida, USA Aug 14, 2008 33cl bottle.
Pours blonde, creamy white head.
Strong well rpesent abv with grainy notes yeasty and malt.
Fruity (orange pee/citrus) thick to the palate.
