Framboise is a classic among the Belgian beers created by adding whole fresh raspberries (250 g/l)to a blend of young and old lambic. Framboise Oud Beersel is the missing link between beer and wine and is served chilled in flute glasses.

Ruby with white head. Fresh strawberry and floral. Sweet, funk and malt finish. Overall: a little boring and artificial.

Ruby red and white head. Aroma is sweet with lots of raspberries. Some cherry too. Taste is sweet with raspberries but there is some cherry sourness in the end. Medium body and medium carbonation.

I think it’s a 2013 bottle (expiration is 2018). The beer pours a magenta brown. Appears quite cloudy, which might be due to my handling of the bottle. Small, fizzy pinkish head, dissipates pretty quickly. The aroma is sweet with an artificial tone. It could be from the sweetening, but I’m getting something that smells a lot like a diacetyl-ish buttery popcorn flavor. There are some decent raspberries underneath all of that. The taste is flat and watery. It’s very washed out. Some nice fruitiness, but there’s zero funk or depth. Fairly sweet, which isn’t aided by the watery character. Mouthfeel is a bit spritzy but a lot flatter than expected. I’ve had this beer before and remember kinda liking it. The cork came out of this bottle with no pop, so maybe, it’s just an issue with this bottle. Still, this wasn’t good.

Pours dark brown/ruby with almost no head. Very faint aroma and taste of raspberries with some tartness. Very, very light body and almost nothing sour at all. Infected bottle?

375ml bottle @Domus Birrae (Rome). Pours dark ruby with a medium head. Aroma of red fruits, bubblegum, raspberry syrup. Flavour is medium to high sweet for a framboise, light sour end. Light body, medium to light carbonation. Mediocre.
