Framboise is a classic among the Belgian beers created by adding whole fresh raspberries (250 g/l)to a blend of young and old lambic. Framboise Oud Beersel is the missing link between beer and wine and is served chilled in flute glasses.

Bottle, 375ml, at Den Gode Nabo. An unclear ruby red beer with a small white head. The aroma is as expected dominated by raspberry, with some almond and a lemony, light funky touch. It’s quite dry on the palate, with a nice carbonation level. Raspberry, some almond notes and a touch of lemon juice in the flavor. Lasting raspberry finish. Not the most exciting framboise I’ve had, but it’s damn refreshing and quenching. 140620

1L growler from Sherbrooke Liquor pours a crimson color with a finger and a half of light pink head that leaves a few spots of lacing behind. Aroma is dominated by raspberries. Taste is a raspberry tartness with a malty sweetness and a light hop bitterness in the background. A nicely crafted fruit lambic.

Nice aroma, a bit of yeastiness, almost a champagne bite. Taste is ok but a bit sweet for me. Not bad but not my style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Massive fruity nose to this. Smells and tastes like a basket of cherries. Crazy tart and sour. Pretty good for the style. Had this as a draft pour at the Saint Bock brewpub in Montreal.

37,5cl bottle @home. Pours red with a creamy pink head. Lively carbonation. Aroma is fruity, raspberries, bit sweetness. Taste has some raspberries, slight sour hint, but also an unpleasant taste I can’t define. Would’ve loved a more intense raspberry taste.

UPDATED: SEP 6, 2014 37,5cl bottle share, NachtvdGroteDorst 2014. Very much the Kinderframboos among all framboises: young, with overpowering raspberry fruitiness and fructose on the lieblich palate. Missed quite a few lambiek markers in here, like dryness, old hop funk, expressivity...somewhat reminiscent of Hanssens Oud Beitje in this respect, but even younger/unfinished as a blend. // Resampled draught, The Maple Ertvelde: the same straightforward, thawed bag of congealed raspberry goodness, with a natural fruity sweetness, almost no funk.
