Framboise is a classic among the Belgian beers created by adding whole fresh raspberries (250 g/l)to a blend of young and old lambic. Framboise Oud Beersel is the missing link between beer and wine and is served chilled in flute glasses.

375 ml bottle to snifter (shared with the Mrs.) The bottle has a Best Before date of 06.03.2012, but I just purchased it from a large retailer in Indianapolis (and itís lambic), so itís getting rated. Looks decent; undercarbonated though. A cloudy amberish brown with virtually no lacing. Smells mildly tart and funky with a sweet raspberry backbone. A bit of vinegar too. Tastes like it smells with no carbonation whatsoever. Not bad, but would probably be much better fresher and with some carbonation.

Pours fairly dark red with a pink head. Aroma of big and sweet raspberries, raspberry yogurt, frozen sweet berries, some very very weak lacto funk and some raspberry juice. Taste of.. Well you guessed it; raspberries. It is tart but not as tart as you usually get your framboise. Very juice and overall refreshing. Sparkling body and easy to drink.

Bottle from bieresgourmet.be. Pours a deep cherry red slightly hazy body with a small pink-hued white head. Nose is strong raspberry notes, straw, hay, mild barnyard funk and hints of cherry pits and dark fruits. Taste is raspberries, citric peel, mild barnyard funk, hay and hints of dark berries and red fruits. Medium to light body, medium to high carbonation. Pleasantly tart and very fruity, this is a classic framboise indeed; very accessible and easily drunk - I can imagine even for beginner tasters of sour/fruit beers. Good stuff from Oud Beersel.

iAroma of raspberrycandy. Flavor is tart up fronbt with funky bandaid and metallic berry. Light tart raspbery jam. For me too fruity, like it more on the sour side, but still an ok beer

"Not quite up to par complexity-wise with the geuze and kriek in that thereís little follow up to the initial hit of raspberry and light musk. The aroma and appearance (deep purple with red edges and a pink cap) are stunning, the feel and flavor nice but lacking depth."

375ml green bottle, corked. Rediish pour, maybe some purple hues in there too.Clear. Head is pinkish, fairly small. Nose has sweet raspberry, jsut a touch of tartness. In the mouth the beer has sour raspberry, vinegar notes, wood. A little tangy, a little dry. Crisp and lively.

On tap at Erzbierschof. Dark purpleish color with large head that dissipates quickly. Sweet intense raspberry flavour, not too much tartness. Taste is rather sweet and slightly sour. Rather light to medium body, nothing much to critizise, but also not too distinct. Easier to drink than Cantillon?s products, but not as dry and complex. Really lecker.

Bottle 0.375l. Pours deep red with light pink head. Aroma is full of raspberries and some cherries. Very fruity. Taste is light bitter, light to medium sweet, light to medium sour, raspberries, cherries. Aftertaste is rather sweet and somehow sticky. It reminds me of artificial sweetener. Strange. Could be much drier and sour. Ok but a bit disappointing.
