Framboise is a classic among the Belgian beers created by adding whole fresh raspberries (250 g/l)to a blend of young and old lambic. Framboise Oud Beersel is the missing link between beer and wine and is served chilled in flute glasses.

Aroma - earthy raspberries Taste - light sour of the lambic, but not much raspberry Pallete - light to medium body, not noticeably carbonated, thin, slightly bitter, abrupt finish Overall - acceptable as a lambic, but disappointed in the lack of raspberry Taste

Bottle from bruisiní ales. Pours a merlot color. Doesnít have any add. Aroma faint rasberry with sweet notes. Nice sourness to the taste as you would expect with some crispness.

Bottle. Pours a clean and clear garnet and ruby color with a large pinked beige head. Soft raspberry on the nose, not over the top. Dry and dusty fruit, more of a real raspberry aroma, which due to how often we get artificial raspberry aromas, comes off smelling weak and diluted, when itís probably actually pretty close to a raspberry aroma. Rather an odd unsweetened raspberry yogurt flavor going on here, very milky. Lightly sweet, dry carbonation with some light funk throughout. Dry finish with lingering dusty raspberry skin bitterness.

UPDATED: JAN 23, 2011 Draft, Uber. Dark ruby pour, light pink head. Smells of lightly sour raspberry yogurt. Tastes similar, big berry flavor with a strong sweetness and a vaguely yogurty tartness. Like a better version of Lindemans.

Tap at 16 Tons. Poured a light red that was nearly pink, with a very small head. Tastes and smells basically like nothing but raspberries and sugar, perhaps a light bit of oak and vanilla in there as well. Better than Lindemanís, but still way too damn sweet for me.

A: The pour is dark pink with a bit of a purple tint to it and a big pink head. S: Lots of sweet raspberries without nearly as much of the acetic acid that you get with a lot of raspberry lambics. A moderate sourness with some wet oak and grass. Thereís also a definite buttery aroma which is sort of unfortunate. T: The tartness is nowhere near as assertive as I would have expected. A fair amount of grass and wet oak in terms of the funk. Thereís a decent raspberry flavor, but itís actually pretty sweet. At least I donít pick up any butter. M: The body is medium with a light to moderate carbonation. D: Nowhere near as good as their gueuze or kriek. Plenty of other good lambics out there that I would recommend instead.

Reddish pour. Aroma is just like a raspberry sweet-tart. Flavor is lightly sour, tiny amount of bitterness and tons of raspberries. Finishes with a hint of vinegar.

37.5cl corked green bottle (expiry 8/2013) into a flute glass. Pours clear dark amber-red with dense pillowy pink head of excellent duration and lacing. Aroma and taste is satisfyingly lambic with tart lemony citric elements before the raspberry sweetness takes over at the end. The palate is spritely and light with a light-medium body. A great example of the style though I guess some may fancy more lambic sourness.

Bottle. Pours a deep red with rocky white head. Aromas of sweet raspberries and some sourness. Flavours are tart with none of the sweetness coming through. Good beer.

UPDATED: NOV 24, 2010 (Bottle). Bottle was probably on the shelf for a while. Pours light red/pink w/minimal head and black sediment chunks. It was so off-putting that I strained the beer and it opened up nicely and showed a richer color. (The raspberry aroma is really coming through now). Aroma is raspberry. Taste is tart with some sweetness. Medium bodied with slick texture. Finish is long and tart. Refreshing and very drinkable--after the straining.
