Framboise is a classic among the Belgian beers created by adding whole fresh raspberries (250 g/l)to a blend of young and old lambic. Framboise Oud Beersel is the missing link between beer and wine and is served chilled in flute glasses.

375ml from Sam’s, Durham. Bottle sez best by 2012. It’s a dusky dark brown pour, with faint hints of color and a still body. The brew’s also a bit muddy in the nose. The taste has a bit more clarity to it, with overripe raspberries in there, and honestly kind of a rank. Aside from the slightly off-putting finish, not a bad effort.

Bottle from Solan, best before jan ’09. Pinkish brown color. Raspberry and mango in the aroma. Sweet vinous flavor with sour notes, raspberry and lemon. Sugary and sticky. Aspartame notes. Lovely aroma, but this beer shouldn’t been sweeted.

bottle shared by awiseman. Aroma is strong raspberries and lots of sour. Pours orange with a pink tint. Head is faint pink and o so fluffy. I’m getting the expected raspberries, but I’m also getting something akin to tomato soup. The sweetness reminds me very much a of a homemade strawberry jam I once had. Not terribly sour, but it has had time to settle. Ordinarily the strange elements of this lambic would turn me off to it, but somehow, it works, tomato and all.

Bottle from F-bobs. Pours murky brown with dirty pink head. Nose is stale veggie-raspberries. Flavor is mildly carbonated raspberry maltness. A little weak on the raspberries, but not a bad flavor overall. Not my favorite fram by a longshot, buy a decent tasting brew none-the-less.

Bottle shared by Shyam. Nose of tart raspberries, tannin, yeast, tart wheat. Color is a pretty ruby red. Flavor is all of the above with a sweetness that I didn’t think added much. Unified though and authentic.

Pours to a single layer of pale rose bubbles. Leaves almost no lace on the glass. Lots of clumpy yeast in the glass. The liquor is cloudy deep red--maybe closer to a muddy brown with a tint of red. Mild, crushed raspberry to the nose. Some metal smell to this which distracts. Classic Framboise flavors without an overly sour bite. This has a fresh raspberry flavor without extra sugar added. Nice body with a a higher level of carbonation. Great (mildly) sour aftertaste--like swallowing a unsweetened raspberry jam.

pours dark brown/reddish, thin white head. aroma, lost of raspberries to go around here. flavor, lots of raspberries and tartness, medium carbonation, fruits give a nice puree like mouthfeel. No fizzy stuff here, just pure raspberries. Beer is simple yet full of good fruit flavor. Tasty! 8-4-8-4-17

375 ml bottle - reddish brown, clear with thin off-white head; just a delicious, raspberry pie bomb; soft, full bodied texture drinks crisp and sweet; love the nose and sour raspberry flavors; perhaps one dimensional, but it rocks that one dimension
