Framboise is a classic among the Belgian beers created by adding whole fresh raspberries (250 g/l)to a blend of young and old lambic. Framboise Oud Beersel is the missing link between beer and wine and is served chilled in flute glasses.

UPDATED: MAY 30, 2010 On tap at Max’s. Orange-red pour with a thick white head. Funky sour milk aroma with lots of raspberries. Sour raspberry taste with lots of cream and milk. Not as sour as other lambics, but very smooth and enjoyable. I liked it a lot.

purpleish color, nice bit of pink lace. nose is nice rasberry, with the musky lambic smell as well. flavor is definate rasberry, has a good tart sour flavor definate good lambic tartness, but the fruit flavor meshed well. Great beer the way a lambic should be not these syrup sweet lambics.

[732-20071001] 375mL (w/ jerc, Radek Kliber, tupalev). Slightly tart raspberry juice aroma with some yeast and light malty bread notes. Cloudy, dark brown red body with quick white bubbles and some dark floaties. Sweet raspberry fruit flavour has a grainy wheat background and a mildly sour finish. Medium body on the heavier side. Very nice framb, well-blended.

12.7 oz bottle. Clear, but dark, crimson with a pink froth. Nose of day-old grass clippings, earth and raspberry puree. Faint carb, light generally but some syrup. Tastes like a raspberry scone with lemon custard. Another tasty Oude Beersel offering.

Bottle. Pours a dark amber (orangish) with a slight white head. My bottle had a lot of sediment in it, blackish maroon yeasts. Smells faintly of raspberries and a little funk. Slightly fruity, slightly tart, not syrupy at all but a little sweet with a dry finish. It was good, but I was expecting more of a raspberry presence.

On tap at Stone. A hazed peach amber pour. A sour/sweet aroma that makes your mouth water. A fruity flaover that has trouble living up to the aroma. Just a bit thin as well. Overall good not great but very pleasant.

Draft at Beneluxx in Philly. Pour a sparkling red with a very pale pink head. Aroma of raspberry vinegar. Flavor of belgian malts and mild raspberry, with a hint of candy tartness. Lots of acidity going down the windpipe. Rather simple, perhaps a little boring.
