COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Framboise is a classic among the Belgian beers created by adding whole fresh raspberries (250 g/l)to a blend of young and old lambic. Framboise Oud Beersel is the missing link between beer and wine and is served chilled in flute glasses.

As soon as I started pouring I was struck by the raspberry jam aroma. It clued me in that this one wouldn’t be the sour lambic that I wanted but I can’t deny the appeal of such an aroma. The appearance was grand. All dark and stuff with one of those huge heads that makes a column in the middle and then collapses on himself. Alas, this is just a decently made but overly sweet raspberry soda lambic. I sort of like them but I don’t really find them satisfying. I can’t deny that there’s some good craftsmanship behind these things but whatever it’s boring.

Bottle at home split with Sarah. Picked up at Cotteridge wines. Aroma is funky strawberry yougurt, sour, a little vinegar note, fresh strawberry and raspberry fruit. Reddy / orange coloured pour with a fleeting light pink head. Flavour is composed of tangy strawberry,, faint mustyness, light tart raspberry, yougurt funk. Palate is semi sweet, moderate carbonation, dr finish with a little dusty on the tongue. Lingering strawberry fruit with a little musty.

375ml bottle from Beers of the World in Rochester, New York. Clear red-orange in colour with a thin dissipating white head, some light but nice lacing. The aroma is rather sweet with lots of raspberries, white sugar, slight tartness, pie crust. The flavour is quite sweet, some added sugars me thinks, lots of raspberries though that this is nice, not overly tart or acidic. Finishes long, sweet, with tons of raspberries. Its a bit on the sweet side for my tastes in lambics, I prefer my fruit lambics to be quite tart and sour.

375 ml bottle from Belgian eshop Ruby red color, quite lighter color than I remember from the last time and very clear, light pink-purplish head that doesn’t linger. Amazing aroma, sweetish, like any kind of berry jam, mostly strawberry and sour cherry and just a hint of funkiness. Taste is mostly sour balanced with an amazing berry sweetness, really tasty!! Maybe some vanilla(or diacetyl), I’m not sure... Didn’t sense much funkiness. Nice tartness in the aftertastes, always makes me salivate and can’t wait to taste the next sip... As it get’s warm the aroma is more intense and I can sense a hint of diacetyl(or something similar). I expected a bit more funk but it’s an amazing brew nonetheless.

375 ml bottle. Pours a very veiled ruby reddish brown-red with an no head whatsoever. Aroma is raspberry, unripe fruit and wood. Flavor is loads of fruits, wood. Finish is tartness, raspberry, strawberry. Lingering green plant. Medium to full body, average to strong carbonation. Good, refreshing, smooth.

Bottle, shared with Dave. Garnet hue, medium pink head of fine bubbles that recedes rather quickly. Sweet raspberry juice and corky must in the aroma. Sweet raspberry fruit flavour, natural with a seedy quality, a touch musty, and a touch funky. There is an acidity in the finish, more tangy than sour. A touch sweet for my taste, and lacking a bit in complexity.

Rød klar med lavt rosa fingerhøyt skum. Lett frisk bringebærlukt. Litt tam smak men noe søt bringebær er det. Også noe syrlighet. Mye kullsyre.

375ml bottle pours out a dark red topped with a small pinkish head. Nose is lots of raspberry jam sweetness and dust wood. Taste is more of the sweet raspberries and a good barrel note.

375 ml bottle split 4 ways. Pours a lightly dirty deep red with a tiny pinkish head. Loads of raspberries, some funk, leather and yoghurt. Easy drinkable stuff!

375 ml bottle to snifter (shared with the Mrs.) The bottle has a Best Before date of 06.03.2012, but I just purchased it from a large retailer in Indianapolis (and it’s lambic), so it’s getting rated. Looks decent; undercarbonated though. A cloudy amberish brown with virtually no lacing. Smells mildly tart and funky with a sweet raspberry backbone. A bit of vinegar too. Tastes like it smells with no carbonation whatsoever. Not bad, but would probably be much better fresher and with some carbonation.

Pours fairly dark red with a pink head. Aroma of big and sweet raspberries, raspberry yogurt, frozen sweet berries, some very very weak lacto funk and some raspberry juice. Taste of.. Well you guessed it; raspberries. It is tart but not as tart as you usually get your framboise. Very juice and overall refreshing. Sparkling body and easy to drink.
